Watched it! Spoiler Really liked it for the most part. A few things rubbed me the wrong way, mostly the bit at the very start where Thanos kills the Asgardians and Loki, basically negating the end of Thor Ragnarok which was my favourite film so far. That felt too mean spirited. But then again it depends where everything goes in the next one, so I'll wait and see. Just soured it a bit for me from the start.
Really loved how they did Thanos. THAT'S HOW YOU DO IT DC.
No Adam Warlock though :c

To be fair, Ragnarok killed off a lot of Asgardians, including Odin and the Warriors Three.
Where are Valkyrie and Sif?
I like how the trailers convinced everyone that Iron Man would be present in the Wakanda battle. Misdirection! Martin

But as I said, subsequent stuff might negate that a bit, did half of them escape? Is Loki really dead??

But as I said, subsequent stuff might negate that a bit, did half of them escape? Is Loki really dead?? I had the same feeling at the beginning of the film, but there is a throw-away line from Thor later on about half of his people being killed by Thanos, which makes sense but raises questions...
I suspect this is it for Loki, and Gamora. There has to be a reset button in the next one, but it would be too cheap to over-use it.
Overall I have mixed feelings about the film. There were bits I loved, bits I didn't care for, and a lot of CGI spectacle which at times was just washing over me. I'd put it as the third best Avengers film, though it wasn't really an Avengers film, if anything it was a Thanos film (which is fine, they sold his character well and made him a compelling villain).
For my money almost none of the humour landed, and some so-so jokes were dragged on for too long.
I liked the post-credit scene a lot.

{Spoiler}Saw it today....
IT WAS THE GREATEST MOVIE OF ALL TIME!!!!
I was blown away by it. Really stunning stuff. They lost! They bloody lost! I never in a million years thought that they'd do something like that in the Marvel Movieverse. Good on 'em.
The story was edge of the seat, all the characters got more than enough to do. And Thanons was so amazingly good, I found him captivating. I thought it was a near perfect Avengers film. A near perfect superhero film. I can't wait to see how they follow this. When Spiderman vanished it really tugged the heart-strings! And Vison... Such good performances throughout. So many heroes just vanishing. Shocking, really. And a fascinating end title sequence.
Wow. Wow wow wow.

But as I said, subsequent stuff might negate that a bit, did half of them escape? Is Loki really dead?? I don't think any of them are genuinely dead. They "killed off" so many, and a few we know they have plans for (There's no way in hell there won't be a Black Panther 2), that it just reeks that it'll all be reversed.

They'll obviously be some level of reversal in the next one (probably anyone who got dusted) but I suspect we have seen the end of folk like Loki, Heimdell and potentially Gamora.

But as I said, subsequent stuff might negate that a bit, did half of them escape? Is Loki really dead?? Spoiler Korg was also missing. Going by the rule of if it didnt happen on screen they aren't dead, the most likely answer is (/will be, if there is another Thor related film) that Valkyrie and Korg (and Meek) led as many Agardians as possible to the escape pods while Thor Loki and Heimdal delayed Thanos and crew.
Even in a film like this that seems to revel in the fact that it must make no sense in a stand alone capacity, that was likely one plot too many.
That or they did originally kill all three of them, but then Ragnorak was released and their popularity caused a rethink.

Spoiler They'll obviously be some level of reversal in the next one (probably anyone who got dusted) but I suspect we have seen the end of folk like Loki, Heimdell and potentially Gamora. Spoiler I mean yes the odds that they kill off that many of them, plus the out of contract phase 1 stars is more than unlikely, but the more I've thought about it the more feasible it seems. And then I think about it some more and I almost hope they do.
GOTG vol3 - They already introduced the original? comic Guardians in Volume 2, which at the time seemed like a cool easter egg, but now Stallone, Ving Rhames, Michelle Yeoh, Miley Cirus plus Karen Gillan, Bradley Cooper and Sean Gunn. thats a film I want to see.
Spider-Man 2: Again Miles Morales has already been introduced. Or Sony break ties with Marvel and have Tom Holland wake up from a dream in which dozens of fictional superheroes battles a giant alien and died. His main take away from the dream was the cool suit he was wearing (in this reality hes still wearing his pj and goggles suit)
Iron-man. They kind of missed a trick in IM3 when he asked if there was a 12 year old kid in the car outside, Maya should have seriously said yes. The kid, Called Tony, is then shipped off to boarding school in Switzerland, by the time the next raft of movies are done Tony Jr would be early to mid twenties and could just have slipped in to the Iron-Man role.
More outside the box and requiring agreement from Sony, Tony leaves a share of the company and his Iron Man tech to Peter Parker, while Miles fills the Spider-man shaped hole left behind.
Or, well theres Don Cheadle.
Dr Strange - retitle any future film Sorcerer Supreme either starring Wong or a new character (Im assuming there are suitable replacements in the comics somewhere)
Thor - Thors hammer is left behind, someone worthy picks it up. Also Valkyrie and or Sif film please.
Hulk- No one seems to mention Ruffalo wanting out of the MCU and since he cant have his own film making him the ultimate guest star I cant see Hulk dying here, but if he did Im sure there a way to back date a She Hulk creation or any of the other hulks.
And someone else takes in the Captain America mantle.

I would buy this dusting thing, and be more likely to believe it was permanent if they had dusted Steve and Tony, instead of T'Challa, Sam or Bucky, Spiderman, and Wanda.
Because Sam and Bucky BOTH went on to become Captain America. RDJ's been in it for ten years, and as far as I know doesn't mind Tony, but is tired of Ironman (though I heard he's a bit more favorable since they switched to a CG suit instead of practical). And Riri Williams became Ironman in the comics. And even with Tony dead, they could still set her up through flashbacks.
And they sure as hell aren't gonna leave Black Panther alone. Not only is it the most successful MCU movie, it also proved that he can carry the MCU, the way Tony and Steve have.
Scarlet Witch- they love swiping big comic events. House of M was particularly notable. Something like this could easily snap Wanda, and have her create an MCU version of HoM where everyone's alive and happy. Granted this reasoning is sketchier, but still, like I said if she hadn't been dusted, I'd have been more convinced due to this reasoning.
And Spiderman... Disney paid out the wazoo to get him back. I can't see them using him for two movies and a guest spot, just to dump him. Especially when they're building the spiderverse with Venom.

Spoiler The way its set up is quite clever, Avengers 3 is filled with guest stars, but Avengers 4 looks like it will mainly be just the Avengers giving the original MCU stars one last proper movie of their own.
And the most likely out come is some or all of them sacrificing themselves in order to restore half the universe. But I just like that its not that clear cut that they have to do that. Arguably every MCU film series could continue with the loss of all or most of the current rosters.
Even Black Panther (I knew I forgot one in my last post), yes one of the biggest movies ever etc etc, but one of the reasons for that success was its scope, it created a whole world, they could just as easily have called it Wakanda or something and it would have been just as accurate a title. If T'Challa stays dead, the mantle of Black Panther is passed on (Shuri or M'baku) and T'Challa appears in the vision sequences. I doubt it would be any less successful than the more likely sequel will be. The world the first film created is strong enough, not only to survive such a shake up but likely thrieve.
As for Spider-man, marvels agreement, I think, only runs through the next Spider-man film. After that theres no guarantee he'd appear or be referenced in the MCU again. And Venom/Spiderverse is entirely seperate from the MCU which if anything would make the decision to kill Parker easier (and sort of funny if Marvel were deliberately trying to mess with Sony).
Like I said I dont think these are the likely outcomes, but I really do like that the MCU is well built enough that it could pull off any or even all of these changes and successfully keep on trucking.
I personally would be happy for Tony to survive and decide to mentor a new Iron-man . He'd surely have to ask Parker if he survives, when hes says no he'd find another apprentice, it would be a good set up for IM4.
