And so the week begins with a Bank Holiday. For once, I am pleased to have the day off. Also, I may have to dance like a Sontaran at least once a day all week.

Sontar-ha! Sontar-ha! Sontar-ha!
I, for one, am also glad to have the Bank Holiday tomorrow. I am looking forward to the alarm not going off at 6.30am on a Monday, it will be a nice departure from routine.

Well this week I have my 10k Auld Toon Race on the Wednesday evening and the 5k on Saturday. A week of challenges and much sweating is ahead of me.

I've got the whole week off work and the last thing I want when blessed with so much free time is a cold but that is exactly what I've got.

I have managed to burn my arms and neck while out enjoying the sun and they are somewhat sore. A fun night ahead. Sigh.

I looked out of my bedroom window about a hour ago and noticed a fox walking around mine and my neighbours garden. I found that strange because foxes are nocturnal creatures and its rare to see one of them out in daylight.

I have some form of blister underneath the thumbnail on my right hand. It's starting to turn black, and it. Fucking. Hurts. EVERY TIME I TOUCH SOMETHING WITH IT.

Ouch. Have you hit your nail on something? Sounds like it may drop off in a few days to be replaced by a shiny new nail a little later.

Does sound like you may have managed to clout the nail there Mark - either that or have stuck something underneath it. Hope it resolves itself soon.

It is very hot today. I discovered the joy of Thorntons toffee ice-cream earlier. It is the ice-cream of the Gods!

Good criminiy it is hot - up to 22C apparently today, and I can well believe it. I went into work without evening bothering to take a sweatshirt with me this morning, and despite working till six still found it unpleasantly warm on the way home.
I'm sitting here at twenty past nine at night with all the windows open to try to cool the house down so that I can sleep tonight. If this weather keeps up I can forsee lots of salads being eaten by Karl in the near future (which will be good for the weight).

Popped out earlier for an evening lecture thingy at Uni. Other people use this kind of thing to 'network' whereas I merely parked myself strategically beside the choiciest nibbles at the reception and scowled at anyone who passed.

Heh. I never did the networking thing either - not that there were many evening lectures by my University when I was there. I went to a couple, one by a new lecturer in our department. Every third slide was a bear ("This is a surgeon", "this is a bear", "this is a surgeon", "this is another surgeon", "this is a surgical assistan. oh no, that's another bear"). I think he wanted to be sure that we knew the difference between a surgeon and a bear.
Forgot to mention earlier that you are not the only one who got burned. Between the gardening early on Monday and the harsh sunlight of Glasgow I have a nice neat-edged red patch on the back of my neck. I look like I have had a repair done and they couldn't quite get the new panel to match.

Spent Monday avoiding the heat and playing pc games all day, tragic isnt, my excuse is I am suffering fromman fu at present. Today and tuesday have been spent back at work, wishing I actually could go outside.. Typical. At least I get a road trip to our Data centre today, which will be about as thrilling as watching paint dry but it gets me outside!

It is very hot today. I discovered the joy of Thorntons toffee ice-cream earlier. It is the ice-cream of the Gods! Doesn't really appeal to me, in a world where chocolate exists. I have just bought two-for-the-price-of-one 500g tubs of Carte D'Or 'Chocolate Inspiration' ice-cream from Sainsbury's. It was pretty much the only non-liquid item in my shopping basket on a hot day like today. Except for the 'Taste the Difference' Cornish clotted cream, which I have bought on your recommendation. Tried M&S Cola. Not as fizzy as ye olde Coca Cola, methinks. In other news, the weather is hot but I did my lawns yesterday, so I can rest this evening. But... I've enrolled for Welsh lessons at work, beginning on Friday! What have I let myself in for??? Martin

I love a Magnum ice cream on a hot day but what pisses me off is when I take a bite out of one and half of the chocolate coating breaks off and falls to the floor.

That's never good.
I am eating a hell of a lot of ice-cream at the moment. Even now I feel the feel the craving clawing at my mind.

Well, congrats on beating your previous time. Shame that the knee didn't fare too well, hope it is healing up alright.

Wore shorts for the first time in years today. Previously felt too self-concious. It was kind of nice, actually.

Hello Sports Fans! Had a lovely coupla days wi Piglet. Numerous walks enjoying the weather. Gotta be carefull Piglet didn't burn though, man it was hot! Really funny when a light breeze kept blowing her hat off! She'd chase after it giggeling like a crazy-baby! Also bought a carpet for our loft bed room (media and crafts room, we're posh you see), which was very exciting!

Been called up to training this weekend. If I can get a large chunk of uni work out of the way I can make it and hit the ring again. It will be soooo awesome!
