My dad's staying with me this weekend. He went to see his team, Middlesex, play at Glamorgan yesterday. He'd have been better off seeing another day of that today than watching the WC final on my TV, as he's not been enjoying the last few hours.

After a lifetime of talking cricket at me, my dad has just used this term for the first time and I'd swear he just made it up. Since when are 'Super Overs' a thing??? Martin

Well, apparently the two teams scored the same number of runs, which means England win, apparently.

Both teams scored the same as each other.
Then both teams scored the same as each other.
And we win because we scored more boundaries in the match.

Not a good couple of days at the office :-( To the surprise of no-one, Jimmy's out of the 2nd test www.espncricinfo.com/story/_/id/27331986/injured-james-anderson-lord-testI reckon Jimmy's gone for the summer, and possibly for good :-( I mean they're going to go for Archer, if he's fit, but if they do that there's a good chance he'll do a Jimmy too and go off having aggravated what kept him out of this game. So more than likely we'll be needing another quick for the third. Stone has got to be first cab but if something else goes wrong, like Archer going in a pile. Then there's Woakes who definitely didn't look right and didn't bowl for large periods. I can see that being a straight swap for Curran S. So who's left? Stone, Porter, Curran T..... I see Toby Roland-Jones has made a comeback and got a few - he looked decent when he played (against the WI?) a few years back (have I forgotten anyone? what's it look like after that?)

that was just embarassing overall, they have ot give archer a go,
curran can bat so would be a massive bonus looking down that second innings scorecard

Scored a II's hundred today too.

No, not at HQ, but another of the reserves on the sick list is worrying.
Still increases the chances of Porter getting a game before the summer is out.

decent effort yesterday, just was too damp on the first day, we should've ridden the crest of headingley into that but it never really felt like they had that kind of momentum

A few new names, so broken down by who does what: England squad for two Tests in New ZealandYJB looked like he could maybe do with a test break, not been quite right for a while, but a bit surprised not to see Foakes instead in the test side. Nice to see all three of the batting names make it. Parkison in the test side??? hmmm No Porter :-( England squad for five Twenty20s in New ZealandNo real surprises, bit of a transistiony/resty/try some new faces squad Banton was an obvious pick. VINCE? Oh come on. Brown, Saqib & Gregory were all in line for a look, and Sam Curran is overdue a go at T20.
