I agree with Ralph above - it is going to be confusing on shop shelfs when they look the same. We may end up being charged the wrong prices. Megatron looks like someone had a 2nd go at the same toy to make it better. Starscream looks like someone was trying to do Thunderwing. Shockwave looks amazing!

Just image how long it would be to go into Argos & buy Megatron & how many times you'd need to send them back to get the right one

But I can see wrong assortments going in the wrong place under the wrong tab and parents being cofused, buying the wrong thing.

I quite like the look of these. It's been so long since we've had an Optimus Prime that actually looks like the original Optimus Prime! I mean, can anyone remember the last time that he actually turned into a truck with a trailer..?
Uh-huh.
But that article aside, I do like the look of these as the nuRiD replacements. They look like they could be as playable as that current line is. Hopefully they'll do well with kids.

But what if there is a mess up on assigning the barcodes to correct price? Ok if you are getting the cartoon ones at A price but the other way around isn't going to be fun

There was a situation a year or so back when someone swore blind he'd seen Warrior Bisk and Ratchet. He hadn't he'd seen the One Steps. I believe M of this parrish had similar difficult.
This will be worse.

What also strikes me about the line-up for Cyberverse is the lack so far of original characters. Generations is the nostalgia line. RID had a good mix of older and newer characters. I'm not sure we need a second remake line running alongside the already existing ongoing remake line (Generations).

Yeah because the people in charge are now all geewunners. G1 fanboys who insist all g1 all the time. Betcha anything the new movie reboot will be more G1 based than bayverse. And if that's the case, then we got:
Generations: G1 for adults (because fuck bw/ut/rid/animated, those suck, amiright?) Cyberverse: G1 for kids (because 8 year olds fondly remember a cartoon that hasn't been on air for 30 years, amiright?) Masterpiece: G1 for Adults (because adults just worship that old cartoon, amiright?) Movie: G1 for teens. (Because G1, amiright?)
And G1 will be the literal permanent death of the franchise. Without allowing the franchise to evolve with the times and follow what kids actually like, but instead just retelling the same stories with the same characters over and over, you stop bringing in newer fans. Then long time fans will eventually get tired of buying the same basic designs over and over again. If you got ten cab-over optimus toys already, some from ten or more years ago, why buy yet another?
This is why G2 failed, where Beast Wars saved the franchise from extinction. Right out the gate G2 literally just repackaged what came before it. The toys were repackaging the old toys. The cartoon was a repackage of the old cartoon. By the time the line started to innovate with the times (new characters, new gimmicks like ARTICULATION), it was too late. Then BW came in with all new toys, all new characters, all new story, following popular nineties trends (animals, conservation, stuff like that).
I know nothing about GI Joe, but a friend told me that this pattern was basically what killed Joe. They got stuck constantly redoing everything eighties, and not only did not allow it to grow and change, but pushed back hard against the few attempts there were to open it back up.
But yeah, the kids line needs to be more innovative than Cyberverse looks (so far). It needs to be the line that pushes new concepts and new characters, because god forbid some of the adults will flip out if something newer than 1991 ever touches Generations.

Interesting to note, they are referring to this as the Animation line. Sounds to me like it reinforces the notion that this is the RID15 replacement. #HasbroToyFair #NYTF

"Action attack." Pop-out guns, signature moves on toys. Action happens during transformation of "action attacker."

It's annoying how much I like some of these. I don't need another Starscream or Grimlock. Shockwave, however...

These do look like fun, and I'm definitely interested, even if there is, as already stated, a lack of any new characters whatsoever.
But that's some interesting points from Toph - let's hope that they do something new and fresh soon.

There is? I hadn't seen one in any of the coverage so far, got a link? (That's one I might be tempted by, depending on what it is like)
Also, I've just seen in that gallery the half-transformed Megatron standing there with an armoured vehicle body, with a long gun barrel, stood on two legs looking desperately ungainly. Looks very like a Spartas Hovertank from SDC: Southern Cross! And similarly wonderfully goofy.

Ah! I'd missed that! Lurgy must have scrambled my sensors a bit.
Excellent. I might be tempted to snag her if she shows up over here in that case.
