Seems odd to do it after Bumblebee. That would be a perfect new start, you'd have thought.

I was just saying elsewhere that this makes me a little sad. For all its flaws I enjoyed them.
A fresh start isnt a bad thing, I just would have liked them to have wrapped this series up first. One more film to address Unicron then move on. And no more Hound.

Well for starters there is no such thing as 'Bayverse'. More than one person worked on these movies.
It's worth considering the context of this new information. This is from an 'Investor Preview'. It's a way of saying to a certain audience: 'The revenue has dropped on this movie property but don't worry we're focussed on retooling it for the future so you will all continue to make money'. There really is nothing more to it than that. Not that this hasn't stopped rampant online speculation of course!

Saying something is dead before it is released is... Not a good move

Is there a link to the specific words said at the Investors event? I'm finding it hard to shift through the online screaming to see.

They could take a fresh start because I'm sure plot points in Bumblebee don't match up with events in the other 5 films.
So we have Bumblebee in the war with Hotrod then Bumblebee Movie then he is alone on Earth forgetting about Hotrod & getting tracked down by the Decepticons tracking the Allspark

According to TFU.info, Bleedingcool.com lied. There's no reboot. Whilst I am in agreement, Bleeedingcool is hardly the bastion of good journalism!!

At this point "Bumblebee is a reboot" and "the next film is a sequel to TLK" have been spoken almost in the same breath.
