A voyager-priced deluxe then. Nice. You could try and argue that the extra engineering makes the cost worth it, but really, that triple-changing that he does doesn't really look all that complex...

Small ray of sunshine, if you're going 87 alone, Apeface won't look too out of place among the Deluxe headmasters. Being this big though does suggest this isn't the left over TR engineering we thought it was. Thus us Siege size.
Or maybe it's scaled down from that, maybe it was shelved originally because at full TR Voyager height it was too expensive.

Apeface is not a Toy for Ralph. Photos here may assist people: www.tfw2005.com/boards/threads/wfc-siege-apeface.1184548/page-6#post-17427784 there's hooks on the inside of each foot that need to go up into the neck piece plus lots of other tabs There's some issues with peg hole sizes, mainly the hands and one for the shield in jet mode. Astrotrain: can't get his trailer to lie flat in launch page mode, and I'm not the only one with that difficulty :-(

I got Crosshairs, Spinister, and Apeface today.
I'm afraid I have to echo everyone's sentiment about Apeface. He's...not great. Nightmarish unintuitive transformation, and alt modes that require tabs that don't lock if you can even find them. Robot mode is really decent, at least. Also, he may be short, but he is very much still a voyager. He has the heft and mass of one. He feels more like a voyager than the taller Siege Megatron does. The Titanmaster feels like they've forgotten how to make Titanmasters. Like it's been 10-15 years since tge last one, and they weren't making these guys just one line ago.
Crosshairs is worse QC than Ironhide, honestly. I dug out the TR-Legends pinpointer than came with TR-Legends Windblade, and forgot how spoiled the Battlemaster Nebulans have made me! Crosshairs has the wrong shapes, and wrong head. But I guess it's a decent stand in until we get a real Crosshairs?
Spinister is the winner of the trio! Save for the lack of nebulans, he's like Scoop. The perfect update of this really obscure mid to late G1 guy. He's got a clever transformation, and his guns are modeled on his nebulans, and can even "combine" like they could. I didn't know this until I had it in hand.
I was going to put his seperately sold partner Battlemasters with him, but realized they're updates in name only, and don't even share the original's color schemes. So I haven't decided If i'm gonna swipe the two from TFCC Spinister, or ignore them altogether.
Get Spinister. Apeface is likely the best we'll get, and it'll look great on a shelf. I guess it depends on how much the Horrorcons mean to you, and how likely you feel Snapdragon is coming. Crosshairs is nothing to write home about. It may take a while, but we'll probably get a better go at him some point down the line.

Apeface breakage warning!
The tailfin shield is made entirely of translucent plastic, but painted the same color as the wings (instead of... y'know...just making it out of the same plastic). The post on mine broke off in his back, though leaving enough to still work.
So user beware.

Picking up on a few unopened toys. I must say I do like the Reflector toy colour triple pack. That's a nice bunch of fellas right there. They look great all holding their shields. The only possible criticism I could have of these three is that with all the extra bits in the box it would have been nice if they'd done a couple of face variants.

Got Astrotrain today and I am expecting an announcement or listing reveal tomorrow of a not-wrongly colored repaint. Good god is this an ugly deco. Almost a solid chunk of a warm muddy grey, with almost nothing to break it up. A shade of grey, AND a shade of purple that just eats detail, light, and fun. It's not a bad deco. It's worse... It's a boring deco. It's an "i was block colored in a background panel in marvel, only not one of the fun colors that lets you see the details the artist gave me," deco. If it's gonna be wrong, then I would have preferred the recentish eye searing platinum reissue nonsense deco.
All that said, over all he is still an absolute vast improvement over the TR Astrotrain.

Haven't freed his accessories yet.
All that was said without transformation.
First transformation: train mode. Fiddled with it without instructions. Pretty straight forward. Either screwed up, or it's poorly designed because the front wheels are half an inch higher off the ground than the rest of him. Still better than TR's "train"
Second transformation: train mode. Either I screwed up again, or he's a bloody partformer. Which shouldn't happen in a $50 toy, to be missing a major part of your alt mode. Or I got it right, and it's just a very bad and ugly shuttle that's missing half it's back.
At fifty bucks, i would prefer him to be better designed, and more complete, than having a few extra guns.

Final opinion, only half as good as the 14 year old Classics mold, but flaws and all, it's still leaps and bounds better than the mess that was TR.

Okay freed the accessories, and got the instructions. I did screw up the train a bit. I did not screw up the shuttle. I can't believe someone looked at that and said "it's fine" and called it finished. Can you get your launch pad base to lie flat? I can't, p*$$ed me off no end. It doesn't, sorry. If it did, I'd have offered you a trade because it's a non-issue for me. That whole box and all but one or two guns will probably get chucked in an accessory box somewhere, along with all the blast effects.

Waited SIX MONTHS to be able to tool Spinister up with his Battlemasters: Here he is with Quake who I expect to get redone from Impactor any day now: Which just leaves perpetual poll runner up Needlenose. As of yesterday I own every Siege toy released at standard retail. Of the Siege branded exclusives (as opposed to Selects) I'm missing the Rainmakers and Cell Shaded Op & Megs.

Woah, Spinister looks good. I can't wait to get hold of that one. I'd be very happy if Quake got redone from Impactor as it'd be an excuse to own that mould and I never bought the TR one.

I see your dilemma. If Transformers can only hold the weapons they come with, what does happen if you turn into a hand gun? No one can hold you and you can't hold yourself! This is a logical impass. There can only be one solution...
Call the Movellans!

Singe is still called Singe
Hairsplitter's name change is a joke.... in more ways than one, but was used previously on a Targetmaster paired with a Singe and a Spinister, so there's a precedent.
No arguing that these aren't Spinister's Targetmasters
