I think Sideswipe could be repainted - Sunstreaker, Bluestreak, Smokescreen & Prowl Sunstreaker's roof is on his chest, not his bonnet! They only have to stick lights on the roof. The only thing is Prowl normally have slimmer torso that broad style for Sideswipe. Bluestreak, Prowl & Smokescreen have their bonnets on their chest but they all stick out, not folded flat. Granted it wouldn't be the hugest piece of remoulding to fix that tough...

But we must never underestimate the power of the spider mafia! Spider-Mafia! Spider-Mafia! With the proportional strength of an organised crime conspiracy, and a "Mafia Sense" which alerts them to the approach of clean cops? :-) Karl

Cybertronian Car Brothers-
Prowl: Inevitable Red Alert retool of Sideswipe X-Brawn: Hound Sideburn: Chromia retool
Ultra Magnus: UM retool Optimus Prime: Optimus or UM retool, adding Super Fire Convoy armor.
Or don't cheap out and GIVE UP NEW MOLDS. -sick of G1-

Actually, I think a relatively mild retool could get RiD Ultra Magnus out of Siege Magnus. New chest, new head, new shoulders, add the wings if possible.
Chromia really would make a magnificent Sideburn. May not even need a new chest like I first thought, if the paint job is clever enough.
Rethinking Prowl. And I concluded PotP Punch is about perfect. Add a lightbar, and new head. I think the wheel fender shoulders can get into the right configuration for him, in Punch mode.
There's not any really better choices for X-Brawn. So for now, sticking with Hound or Ironhide.

Very true. What a mad world. MPs too plain to be right, Generations figures too detailed to be right.

Snakas' blog is saying the WFC figures here are production ones and not the hand painted ones that were at SDCC. They do look a bit better than the SDCC ones. The battle damage isn't quite as obvious as the hand painted ones.

There's numbering on the western WFC Siege figures but they don't match the numbering on the Japanese figures. How Silly is that? In the west we know WFC-S1 Fireblast WFC-S10 Sideswipe WFC-S11 Optimus Prime but in Japan SG-01 Firedrive SG-02 Leonizer SG-03 Race Car Patrol: Roadhandler & Swindler SG-04 Sideswipe SG-05 Cog SG-06 Optimus Prime SG-07 Ultra Magnus SG-08 SG-09 SG-10 Battle Patrol: Bigshot & Flask SG-11 SG-12 SG-13 Hound

Woah! Deluxes in boxes! I'd not noticed that.
Gosh they do look good. I know it's 84 again and the battle damage is unnecessary, but oh my word. If classics looked that good from the start I'd have been onboard straight away way back when.

Woah! Deluxes in boxes! I'd not noticed that. Neither had I. I've also found the edge of Op's box and Cog's box, but he's in front if it.

This line is going to piss me off. The battle damage and dirt is just enough to put me off some of them and the over detailing really is putting me off even more.
Right now the only one I am pretty sure I want is Cog.
I'd take a Prime minus battle damage. I really like Sideswipe, but I dont feel like I need another Sideswipe especially with battle damage. Though G2 would be a must buy.
Little hope for Magnus unless a future RID Magnus remould isn't quite so OTT. Ditto Chromia or which ever one it is.
Hound is one of the few were the battle damage doesn't seem too off putting and its not too detailed, I'm just not keen on the mould from what I have seen so far.
This is going to be a hugely annoying line.

They have been unusually negative towards this year's reveals. The criticism seems to be a mixture of different things though. Some don't like the Siege aesthetic. But a lot of them are getting fed up with the same G1 characters over and over again. Some are clamouring for Beast Wars and Unicron Trilogy characters done more modernly. Bizarrely- I'm m in the opposite group. I loved all the reveals.

I'm on the fence about more G1. On the back of the Prime trilogy it feels like too much, on the other hand they are far closer to the G1 classics I want. Battle damage and over detailing aside Ive been waiting for this voyager Prime for 12 years. It is nearly a decade since the last proper classics Sideswipe or Hound.
Still this is the 5th Prime not including repaints (or RID, Movie, Recuebots) in the last 4 years. At least we are getting some Micromasters and targetmasters.
I really like the choice to make the robot modes G1 and the vehicles some degree of Cybertronian, but again I can see why thats not for everyone.
As for Beast Wars, all for them, but we are up to Micromasters, give me some Actionmasters and Euro/G2 first.

It seems som art is using a head that's spot on for Hotshot.

Cybertron Defense Hot Shot- that's the one that became Springer and Roadbuster, right? Hardly seems the best mold to get Armada/Energon Hot Shot out of.

Better that I anticipated when I saw the head and thought "what are they thinking?" The main problem is the lack of the turret but with the Weapons mounted on top just right.... maybe. Now I've got them side by side the robot shoulder's are a real problem. Doesn't help that CD Hot Shot is an all time favourite.

I can see it...
But I also think perhaps they are just scavenging design elements from past lines. Hence what also happened to the Monsterbots/Dinocons that people foresaw must be coming because of some shared detailing.

Hence what also happened to the Monsterbots/Dinocons that people foresaw must be coming because of some shared detailing. Well when it's shown with the exact head of a different character, a head that is not it's own, then it's not shared detailing. In the case of the pretender monsters, that was Wildfly's head on the toy sample. It was distinctly different from the Cutthroat* head. In this case, it is not the Hound head we see on the pictures of the toy, or the renders. Hound's actual head is completely different, and looks like Hound. Edit: *I always get Cutthroat and Divebomb's names mixed up.
