Both have strength 7. Flywheels is slightly more intelligent (4 to 3) and faster (7 to 6) (though his tank mode is slower than Battletrap's jeep when you read the blurb - tech-specs rating presumably some kind of average between modes). Battletrap has more endurance (8 to 7). Both have rank 6. Flywheels is braver (8 to 6) and has more firepower (8 to 6.5). Battletrap has more skill (7 to 6). Not much in it between them, really. No 1s, 2s, 9s or 10s. Quite boring really. Martin

BATTLETRAP for me. Flywheels is also very good, but I just feel a helicopter and jeep with roof guns is more interactive. I love his very clever name and personality. I love the concept of the Duo-Con, and find it a shame, and quite surprising actually, that the comic ruined the concept by making them triplechangers. It is unfortunate both don't have more articulation, even just a bit of arm articulation, but the way the two vehicles combine and spring-up into robot mode was brilliant.
AND GENERATIONS RUINED BATTLETRAP!!! AAARRGH!!! AAARRGH!!! AAARRGH!!!

Yes the values are nothing special, but I like the way they have lower intelligence, although that makes their ranks weird. I wonder if BATTLETRAP has greater skill because of his battle-tripping tallents.
Battletrap's Moto is one of the best in the entire history of Techspecs...

Battletrap got fleshed out in a TFU entry, Flywheels didn't: www.ntfa.net/universe/english/index.php?act=view&char=BattletrapYeah, odd how Furman made Flywheels a Triple Changer. And Uncle Bob did the same with Sky Lynx, rather than splitting him into dinobird and puma. Maybe in both cases the unseen module has somehow shrunk and fit inside the mode that we see? Martin

Although Flywheels is the better toy and character, I've always liked Battletrap. So I'm voting for him. The gimmick with these two was a good one. Yes, no moving arms, but as they are the Throttlebots equal this seems fair. Any evidence to the names getting switched last minute?

I've been sitting on this one for two weeks holding it for today. Here is a shot from the 1987 Hasbro Toyfair Catalogue which has the names the other way round: So to extend Shockprowl's Throttlebots analogy: But Hub Cap was born yellow. It is what he is. -Ralph Well, according to Phil's picture, Hubcap was born white, then MISS-COLOURED yellow! Here the wrong baby came home from the hospital!

Brown and Purple, those are what colours the jet is. Maybe more maroon than purple, but it's not red. And the tank is brown.

Phil, mistakes in catalogues prove nothing. Or do you now claim that when colours were wrong that they are the 'right' colours?

*chin wobble/fist clench* I will do no such thing - I'm not risking setting off his GPS! And intriguing - maybe the names *were* swapped. Although it would have to have been early in production given that in the bio for Battletrap his beavhior seems to be a play on his name. Either way, it was always Flywheels for me - the one that I never actually owned. Simply because I prefer his colour scheme, and I've always been more of a jet man than a helicopter man...

Tanks and jets are ten a penny in Transformers but only with Battletrap do you get a BATTLE VAN.
Battletrap is like the Punisher who also had a BATTLE VAN.

Ok, shameless nostaligia is a bit hard to escape on this one for me. I got Battletrap while my brother got Flywheels, and I had tonnes of fun with the toy.
Visually Flywheels probably works better, and his tank looks neat, however the Helicopter wins it for me.

Where the name Flywheels arguably fits a jeep and a chopper better. Then again... 'BATTLETRAP' fits jeep and chopper also, because it would be easier to 'trap' an enemy between a maneuverable helicopter and agile all-terrain jeep, rather than a super-fast jet and slow albeit powerful tank. Hmmmmmmm ....

Lots of wheels on a tank. The treads run round them. And 'Flying' brings to mind a jet more than a helicopter. Helicopters hover.
Hoverwheels would have been a better name for a helicopter.

While the Flywheels name could work for either, Battletrap is distinctly better for the Jet/Tank combo. The wheels are definitely more prominent on the van

Skytread is much better name than Flywheels. Shame we never got to see Flywheels' split personality in media, like Marvel UK. "Fighting himself", brilliant. BATTLETRAP is an AWESOME name. One THE BEST in all Transformers history. And that Moto... "We're only halves of a whole, but double the trouble " #VOTEBATTLETRAP. IT IS THE ONLY WAY

It'd be easier to trap a target between a jeep and helicopter. The speed difference between jet and tank is too great for easy trapage. Whereas a helicopter can hover near the agile jeep.

Yes, that's a good point. Fighter jet and tank are more battley.

But then there's the trapness, which is only mentioned with reference to a jeep and helicopter.

The jet would pursue the Throttlebot who would then hide in the forest where the tank would be waiting and then: BLAM!
