Soundwave has a clip. For your belt. I dread to think what will happen when you realise Blaster and Soundwave can swap tapes. They do NOT swap tapes! You can't put Blaster's tapes in Soundwave's chest!!! -Ralph

Another mind blower is that the Trailer also contains a map of the Romulan Neutral Zone from Star Trek!

Someone please find a picture of Combat Deck standing up on its end with the Circuit/robot head thing poking out of the other hole at the top.

You can't put Blaster's tapes in Soundwave's chest!!! -Ralph There is a distinction between something that isn't done, and something that physically cannot be done. A bit like eating peas with a knife - there is nothing actually preventing it, but it is not socially acceptable so people don't. In the case of the tapes, they all turn into Mini-dat tapes, so they are all exactly the same dimensions in tape mode. Any two things of identical dimensions will fit into the same space. There is no physical barrier to it. It may be that it is a thing that is a thing that is not done, but it is not a thing that cannot be done. Karl

Yes. He is a Walkman. You clip a Walkman to your belt. Gah! No, he isn't. At least, I have never found any evidence of Walkman using the mini-dat tapes that Soundwave is sized for. Unless someone is able to provide me with actual evidence of a Walkman using those tapes, instead of the C90-sized ones that are all I've been able to identify, I stick to my assertion that Soundwave is a dictaphone - which much more commonly used the smaller cassette size. I'm prepared to reconsider if someone can show me evidence that Walkman using the smaller tapes were reasonably common. But so far Occam's Razor weighs against it. Karl

Could Skywarp teleport inside the human imagination? Um no. Unless you can tell me where in physical space the human imagination is located he cannot travel to that part of physical space. It is teleportation/apportation, not astral projection - there are important differences between the two. :-) Karl

Ah, this thread is a thing of beauty. And yet more proof of how good these "simplistic" earlier toys were. No, they didn't have great articulation, but who cared when they had so many play features?
And yeah, my vote has to be for Prime. Not just because of my Optimus Prime obsession, but because he's the reason I have the obsession in the first place.
Prime was, I think, the first Transformer toy I ever saw, and I saw him before I'd read the comics. (Although I *think* I would have seen adverts in the RotJ comic I was getting at the time.) Another kid was playing with him in the Drayton Doctors' Surgery waiting room (I can't remember if we were there for me or my brother) and he let me have a play also, and... I was smitten. A good toy, lots of play value, great features.
I never had a Soundwave, but I did have a Megatron, and, scale aside, he was great for running around wit and doing pew pew stuff. But yeah, Prime is still the best.

I think we also need to show how the combat deck 'head' fits through that tiny square hole.

Has to be Optimus. Soundwave is a worthy contender with Buzzsaw providing additional play, but really Prime's trailer just adds so much to the toy. Without it, Soundwave would probably win.
Megatron doesnt really get a look in, which is kind of a shame. But without the kudos of actually being the leader, the toy was never really that appealling on its own.

Megatron is a toy you don't appreciate unless you've got the Japanese version and, preferably, a Microman figure. As is well documented the original Japanese version fires bullets and the western version has the ability for the accessories to form a cannon for Megatron to use. www.tfu.info/1984/Decepticon/Megatron/megatron.htmWhat is less well known is the accessories can also form a cannon which a Microman can sit on, with the part on TFU labelled Stock B sliding into the angled end of Stock A to form a seat with a back peg, and that part of the stock, Stock A on TFU, should contain a second launcher to enable both of the cannon modes to fire the bullets too!

After thinking really hard about it, I've gone for SOUNDWAVE.
It's hard not to vote for Optimus. An amazing toy for the 80s and indeed for now. And I think Megatron is a great figure also, nice weaponary and fantastic engineering. But Soundwave always had a certain mystery for me, and the tapes just add so much. Sounwave just looks so good.

If folk vote for Soundwave because the Cassettes go inside him, don't forget the Mini Autobots can go inside Optimus, more than one at a time! And Brawn can sit on his missile launcher!

Being fair, I was a little harsh on the role play potential of Megatron, which does outstrip Prime and Soundwave (despite his belt clip). I hadn't seen the pictures with Microman though. Its really interesting to see that cannon in context as something another figure would use.

Is Doc', like, being serious here? Or is just yanking our chain? No Transformers fan can not know the stuff he seems to not know. Soundwave's belt clip he can get away with, but not knowing what the square hole is for and that minibots can ride in Prime's trailer...?! My Godfathers... HE'S WORSE THAN ME!!!
