Consider it a warm up round ahead of next weekend! Speaking of which ...... Bogatan was it you who said they could fix my Wheeljack? Could be. What was the problem? The black bars surrounding the ankles broke

I cant picture it, but plastic weld fixes most things. I will bring some with me.
Really should book some transport.

Obviously I'm voting PROWL.
Wheeljack is a fantastic Transformer. The Ratchet/Ironhide mold is superb. Never owned or even seen Trailbreaker, but he looks great. And Sunstreaker's a good fun toy too.
But Prowl. Prowl! The quint-essential autobot car! The bonnet chest! Shoulder launchers! Great tech-specs! Second-in-command! AND POLICE CARS ARE COOL!!!
The design is so quint-essential. With the bonnet chest. You actually can't have other Autobot car designs without this one first.
PROWL

Wheel jack - another alien-ish looking robot and a cool alt-mode. Andy I used to have one and I was greatly disappointed. Great head mould but the monkey arms annoyed me. The only true Wheeljack is Action Master Wheeljack. -Ralph

I adore Wheeljack. He would get my vote here if it wasn't for the fact Prowl is so damn cool. Close run thing.

Trailbreaker. Lots of play value, and (along with Ironhide) stands out among all the more exotic cars.

What madness is this? Prowl's clearly the best, followed by Wheeljack.
Anything else is simply insanity.

Mildly interesting (or not) to note that characters were mentioned on tech specs before they were released as toys / appeared in the catalogue, e.g. Bumblebee's referred to Prowl, Sideswipe's to Sunstreaker and Rumble's to Megatron. Mind you, some of them also appeared on the back of the box art.

In the US everything was released at once, one car assortment wit everything in www.fredsworkshop.com/1984.htmlIt would be interesting to know why they picked and chose only certain toys for the UK launch

I expect it was an arbitrary decision based either on anticipating a smaller market, or the logistics of having enough toys to release. The original six have no mould duplication, so it makes sense to keep Bluestreak/Prowl and Ratchet/Ironhide apart, and probably also Sideswipe/Sunstreaker because the car modes are so similar.

I've always found it odd there's 11 cars in the first year but 7 in the second. Given MTMTE I think it's *probably* likely that Grapple was meant to be in year 1 till a late stage.

US case assortment for 84 cars is 12 figures, but Mirage is double packed, it's thought to be a replacement for the Grapple mould.

Poor Skids. Skids rocks. Skids is brilliant. Why was he so poorly written for in TF media?
I love Skids!
Skids is my new favourite Transformer.

Jonathan I don't think anyone has manage to substantiate that rumour. Skids is 1 per case in the w2 toys though when the other 85 cars are 2 per case and doesn't get carried over into 86 like the other 85 cars do though. www.fredsworkshop.com/1985.htmlBut we're getting a few weeks ahead of ourselves here....

He may have been omitted from the cartoon series, but from 'Showdown' to 'Survivors', he was more developed in the US and UK comics than any of the other 1985 Autobot cars. Martin

Definitely, there were really only a handful of the cast that you could argue were really well developed (leaders not withstanding) - Bumblebee/Goldbug, Ratchet, Skids, Grimlock, Swoop, Blaster and Ultra Magnus from the Autobots in terms of those who had toys to be sold. Prowl really only coming into any development with the Earthforce tales and Furman taking the reigns of the US book.

I remember the more horror based TF reboot we discussed where we pictured Ratchet and Wheeljack harvesting organic material for fuel, like big giant robotic versions of Burke and Hare.
