Eh? He may have been omitted from the cartoon series, but from 'Showdown' to 'Survivors', he was more developed in the US and UK comics than any of the other 1985 Autobot cars. Martin He spent two years in limbo being tormented by mind eating parasites! I'd want more than having my bonnet scrubbed by a girl in a bikini for that! Which helps to make Skids a highly memorable character. -Ralph

Oh come on. Trailbreaker is not a good toy. I can accept my man Ironhide losing but anyone else would do. Even Sunstreaker...who isn't that good either if I am being honest.

I have to admit, Prowl-obsessiveness aside, Trailbreaker's votes have surprised me. I thought Ironhide would just pip Prowl and Wheeljack. But then... well, just look at them all... they're all brilliant.

I cast my vote Sunstreaker-wards, but I am pleased at Trailbreakers success. A pox on anyone who says he was a rubbish toy!

My vote goes with Ironhide, as was already established by my prior post about the first Autobot Cars Assortment.

I have to vote Trailbreaker here too. For a long time (after the death of my original Mirage & Prowl toys) both he and Ratchet were my only three Autobot heroes in the battle against my many Decepticon toys! Why three? - because I gave Ratchets sled a personality too!)
It was a tough choice between him and Sunstreaker but Trailbreaker wins. Prowl was a contender too.
The only one that wasn't was Ironhide. I've never really aired this before, but I've never been a fan of him. The toy was just a boring recolour of Ratchet (who was an ambulance and so much more interesting than just a plain old van), his Marvel/Sunbow design was plain and simple - pretty much just a robot person with no vehicle bits giving him any distinctive look. And worst of all, he just had way too much screen time in the sunbow cartoon and his voice just really grated on me after a while.

Things this thread has made me do so far: 1. Source a left wing to complete Wheeljack. 2. Disassemble and remove stickers from Frenzy, give him a good scrub, retension his spring, touch up the silver paint on his chest* and apply a full set of reprolabels. I'm under the impression Frenzy doesn't have silver paint, or that much of it. I thought it should be gold. I suspect that this Frenzy has been touched up in the past. I've had it for decades, but can't remember where it came from. Wheeljack is my own original and I've always been annoyed with myself that somewhere along the line I lost a wing.

I thought it should be gold. www.fredsworkshop.com/vdecep.html#cassA little research suggests both silver and gold paint versions exist: see the pics for the 1984 and 1986 versions here: tfwiki.net/wiki/Frenzy_(G1)/toysNow as to does this correlate with the 84/86 release.... who knows? I know the 86 version also has a silver/gold chrome version. In the cartoon blue tape has silver chest detail, red tape has gold. This is maintained on the MP versions.

Aha! Right, so as this one has silver weapons he probably was silver in the first place. Interesting. Thanks!

My Frenzy is in the loft, but I think he has silver detailing as well.
Will try and dig him out tomorrow night after work.

Am I the only one who is disappointed that this weeks poll hasn't revealed some unknown feature in it's competitors that some one was completely oblivious to?

Is that question do you vote on Devastator in the same group as the individual Constructicons?
|
|
|
Post by Philip Ayres on Apr 3, 2018 22:20:51 GMT
No. Constructicons are a few weeks away yet as they're US 85 not UK.
The combiner is separate to the group, and in the years with multiple combiners they face each other.
