Warpath, he added some much needed firepower for what should have been a lost cause, and his voice characterisation was great!

Am I right in thinking Trailbreaker is the only toy character appearing in 'Man of Iron' who wasn't in the initial UK toy line-up? Megatron was notable for his absence. Maybe Trailbreaker was drawn as a vague silhouette (on fire) because the artist didn't have the toy to copy off. The other characters were drawn so precisely. Just speculating, mind! Martin Yes, I've always thought this too. Also, for some one with a forcefield - Trailbreaker does get shot a lot throughout the comics doesn't he?

*NOSTALGASM*
UHHHH! This thread isn't healthy for me! It's making me very dehydrated.
BUT PHIL!
PHIL!!!!
HOW CAN YOU POSSIBLY EMANATE ANY DISSATISFACTION FOR 'THE FIVE'?!?!?!!!
The Five are all wonderful and all perfect and UNTOUCHABLE by the eyes and hearts of Man!
Choosing one of them to rise above the others is....
actually causing me physical pain....
I love them all. But, here at the very end, I must choose the glory that is-
S E A S P R A Y
'Cos he was one of my first ever Transformers, 'cos he's a brilliant fun toy, 'cos he's great in the cartoon and 'cos his Techspecs is brilliant.

Week 7: What is the best Mini Vehicle introduced on the UK 1985 catalogue?New Year! New Catlogue! Everything the UK had the previous year returns, which is the only time this happens! We also get the toy we were missing in 1984 plus several new toys. Surprisingly Jetfire, Who we previously confirmed was out here in 1985 is missing..... as are a number of other toys which we'll come onto in a few weeks time! But this week is about the 5 new mini vehicles: THIS IS SO PERFECT!!!! STICK SWOOP, SHOCKWAVE, THE CONSTRUCTICONS, AND JETFIRE IN THERE AND YOU'VE GOT THE PERFECT NOSTALGASM GOING ON THERE!!!!

Actually, it would be fun to group the 'not released in the UK' toys (Blaster, Swoop, Shockwave etc) into one catagory and vote on that later too.

Yes. More extra polls. Polls are good. Extra polls will redeem The Phil for his slight against The Five.

Woah. I never noticed Slag has a red face in that catalogue! TFwiki says that version was released in Canada. Those are the Sunbow colours. I thought the Diaclone one was blue chested, but at least that explains why he's red faced in the cartoon.
I need a red-faced Slag!

Then there's the question of "where did they come from?" EVERYTHING else in 1985 has their origin in another toyline, even if they were unreleased there (Astrotrain, certain deluxe Insecticons) Are these 5 the first original Hasbro toys or has their origin elsewhere been lost in the dim and distance past? They lack the super deformed element to indicate they were successors to the original 1984 Mini Autobots in Microchange and IIRC there's something odd about their copyright stamps too. Can't say about 85 Minibots, but there's more history to the 84 ones than Microchange first, Transformers second. Remember this story from Jim Shooter: jimshooter.com/2011/06/secret-origin-of-transformers-part-1.html/Have you ever seen the Knickerbocker Mysterians original line up? No? {Spoiler} Bear in mind that that predates the Microchange releases...

Yep, this poll is definitely giving me the pole.
And yeah, I've got to agree, the second wave of minibots (whatever their mysterious origins) are definitely more fiddle-worthy than the first wave. I felt that at the time, and felt it now.
As to who to choose. Well. Hmmm. The only one I was bought at the time was Seaspray. But without seeming to sound like an ungrateful shit (although I was and indeed am) he was my second-least favourite of the lot. Mostly because he didn't look that interesting. Not as dull as Beachcomber (which I understand given his caricaturisation in the cartoon, a heretical thing to say), but close. Which kind of makes me Reverse Phil this week. (Yes, my head is hiding in the shaft of his weapon.)
Cosmos is good, but Powerglide and Warpath are better. Different designs, which stood out for me at the time, and the red colouring and detail got me. As to which to choose though... Hmm. I'll have to ponder on this one. They both have their plus points...

Oh, this is a tough one. I had both Seaspray and Beachcomber as a kid, so they're the early favourites, but they're a really nice set. Tough to chose a winner - this requires further thought!
