A much easier one this week - I've always preferred Topspin because of his colour scheme, his wings, and, indeed... his pontoons.
Pontoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooon!

You've put Topspin for both, Phil. Corrected, ta. But no, a tank vs. a pontoon plane thing? The tank is tougher; the plane/boat would be faster. That's how it works. So we're going with the Tech Spec mistake theory then?

So we're going with the Tech Spec mistake theory then? No! The tech specs already say the tank is tougher and the boat is faster, Phil!!! But thank you for formatting the table. Martin

Twin Twist is stronger and tougher. Topspin is faster and more skilful and intelligent, has greater firepower... and is evidently Supreme High Commander of the Jumpstarter Legions. I'd say Twin Twist looks the stronger & tougher one, Topspin looks faster. So you agree with what I said and with the tech specs! Martin

Never mind, you're still the man when it comes to putting things neatly into tables.
Quick, someone find Phil another tech spec swap theory to work on...

Hmm. Has anyone here ever disassembled a Jumpstarter? Maybe it is connected to internal springs that give one side of the other more of a 'kick' at transformation? No springs, it's just a weight distribution thing. If your Jumpstarter flipped up and constantly fell to one side, move the tab toward the other side to shift the weight very slightly. This vote was easy, Twin Twist all the way. The Top Spin I had as a kid had a broken chest tab, so couldn't transform, I think that soured my opinion on him.

What a splendid reason!
The reason I voted Topspin was once Ultra Magnus appeared in the comic until I actually got him at Christmas - Topspin who I had was my stand in Ultra Magnus.

Topspin? He looks like a blue door stop/wedge with wings on!
As I said last year when the toy came out the Titans Returns Topspin is the first time I've found the Topspin vehicle mode convincing, mainly thanks to the addition of the cockpit.
Curiously the same cockpit makes the TR Twin Twist LESS convincing, it works better as a sealed piece of tracked armour with no obvious crew compartment!

Yeah, but those wings and that visor make for a much more interesting robot.

Twin drills make no sense Phil! They don't meet in the middle, so there is ground not being drilled! He'll get stuck!

Twin Twist needs both drills for MAXIMUM DRILLING.

Top Spin is so lame he mysteriously acquired a flying mode in fiction rather than sticking with the aquatic mode he actually has! LAME.

Twin drills make no sense Phil! They don't meet in the middle, so there is ground not being drilled! He'll get stuck! Exactly. There is no real-world engineering problem I can think of that would lead someone to build a tank with two fixed-position drills. Not even for putting up really large shelves, unless you were on perfectly level ground. Twin Twist needs both drills for MAXIMUM DRILLING. Twin drills is not maximum drilling when you could have three drills... In terms of existing TF toys, I'd go with Devastator with his two drill hands. At least they can be directed independently of one another. Top Spin is so lame he mysteriously acquired a flying mode in fiction rather than sticking with the aquatic mode he actually has! LAME. Whereas Twin Twist really shone in RG1... Martin

If a drill tank comes straight at you then jumping to the side brings escape but if it has TWO DRILLS there is no escape as jumping to the side puts you into doom!!!

Not if you jump the other way. And if you're in the middle, the drills will pass harmlessly either side of you, allowing you to slide under the tank or jump on it.

Post by The Doctor on Apr 26, 2018 7:53:50 GMT
Nonsense. The tank just pivots to get you if you jump to the side. If you are in the middle you will be pulverised by the debris from rocks chewed up the drills either side of you!
You can't slide under a tank!!!

of course, the drills are perfectly placed to make him Topspin's nemesis as they can put holes in the pontoons rendering him a mere land vehicle!
(but still cooler than Twintwist)
