Ratchet is a 'Robot Car' (upper case) but not a car (lower case). And Huffer is a 'Mini-Car' on that catalogue, but again not a car. The Gobots are cars, but not, as far as I know, Cars. Martin Or members of The Cars

Naming one of these three the best out of them...That's like asking me which one of triplet honorary nephew/nieces is my favourite... I suspected you may have some difficulty here.....

One day to go! Hooligan in the lead!
Two weeks of really good toys, I'm sure that will continue tomorrow.
<looks at schedule>
Oh ****. Well I know they've got one fan. But we apologise in advance for the next fortnight.

I didn't reply to this last week as I didn't want to detract from the Cyberjets but I had a note in my diary to come back to it Animorphs was a Transformers line, Phil. -Ralph tfwiki.net/wiki/Animorphstfwiki.net/wiki/Animorphs#Fan_reactionIt was a crappy toyline with the Transformers name bolted onto it to give it some traction that ate up shelf space that could have been filled by the mainline at a time when all of Hasbro's resources was being diverted into Episode 1.

"The line was released under the Transformers brand name."
Once again, you are conflating dislike for a toy-line with whether it was a Transformers line. It's fine to think Animorphs was a crap toyline but it was a Transformers line. As where Star Wars and Marvel Crossover toys.

Skyjack for me. Too long since Ive had these in hand so Im relying on the photos and Hooligans red and orange isnt working for me. If I'd dug the toys out my opinion may have been different. Having said that Ive always liked Skyjacks colours and the mould is good so..

Can someone who's owned these clarify how the gimmick works: Jumpstarter auto tf or Throttlebot pull back and go?

Let's not tiptoe around the subject here... because they can't, they don't have toes, or anything like workable legs. These look shite. Now you could rightly complain and say that, yes, the Throttlebots aren't exactly realistically-proportioned either, and you'd be right. What the Throttlebots have in their favour though is that they're small and cute, and are clearly meant to be deformed-style cars anyway, like the original minibots, and that helps them get away with a lot. These... just look graceless and clumsy. And worse, I don't think they actually look like they should be Transformers, either - they look like one of the cheaper converting robots that you'd find kicking around in newsagents or garages back in the '80s.
But if I had to pick one I'd go for Ironhide, since he at least doesn't look like he'll topple over with a slight breeze.

Throttlebot type pull back and go motors but they won't activate until the weapon is inserted into the vehicle/robot. Great fun when you loose the weapon. As for the dodgy robot modes - remember alien robot. If these were in the comic, I'd want then drawn exactly like the toys - rolling around Dalek style. Too early to bring up Meanstreak's Decepticon logo ?

Nail on the head. Ironhide looks the best of these two, and indeed the whole lot, but they just look out of place compare to everything else. TFWiki speculates they were designed by Hasbro in house with no Takara input and yeah, it's a believable theory cos they are missing something. I've not doubt the go "weeee" nicely when you trigger the motor (actually I do doubt it!) but they're really not for me.

These weren't released in the US, but there's evidence they were planned to be until VERY late in the game They were show at Botcon 1994: tfwiki.net/wiki/BotCon_1994#Hasbro_PresentationThey're also in a US pre toyfair catalogue: But they're missing from the actual Toyfair catalogue Australia got them on US style cards, we had them on the Euro cards

Explain how you think Ironhide should be a Decepticon when you can't cope with random name reuses. -Ralph *POSSIBLY* I actually feel Ironhide is one of the better form upgrades out. It feels plausible a Ironhide if only the robot mode weren't so ****e He's going to tell us Ironhide should be called Swindle or something. That's an Option. It's more Meanstreak is a Decepticon as his stickers quite clearly show. Bulletbike's colours are much more Autoboty and I tend to associate truck cabs more with the Autobots so Staxx (Worse TF name ever?) feels Autoboty in form even if the colours sway me more to Decepticon.

I've had a play with Staxx and he's actually quite endearing in hand. I liked him.
So, if ever I were to be gifted a set of Powered Masters I would not be unhappy.

Have we ever seen THE POP-UP 3-D TRADING CARDS advertised in the catalogue? -Ralph I'll double check my carded Ironhide, but I don't think the Power Masters had them. Edit: No, they didn't come with them. They didn't need them because the awesomeness of the toys could sell themselves with no frills needed.

I agree with Ralph. Theses are great little curiosity toys and added a nice style contrast to the Cyberjets.
