Yes the knee handles on new Gen Bombshell are very silly and another example a line's 'gimmick' being detrimental to a toy.

If I had designed the CW Bombshell the front legs would have a panel that opens & the black 2 sticks would fold under it.

There's plenty of TFs with open leg rears for the upper legs to fold through. Windcharger and Gears spring to mind as early examples and it's a technique which is still used now.
But is there any other toy who, like Bombshell, has open leg fronts?

What about Ransack (85), Punch (87), Nautilator (88), quite a few micromasters. looking at the legs all have open legs or slits.

Legacy Kickback looks nice - but without the chrome wings, he fails to better than the original. If he had those, I would get one.

I think I just figured out why I borderline hate the concept of the deluxe insecticon updates being nothing but repaints of the "normal" trio.
I spent so many years looking longingly at them in the catalogues, that I just really want their proper designs. Even if the original deluxe insecticons are supposedly some of the worst TFs in G1, they still looked really cool. Way cooler than the trio.
On top of that, the diaclones are insect shaped vehicles, and the beetras are insect robots.
