Ah FFS www.flickr.com/lookingahead/Phil currently has 11,682 Photos. Pay $50 a year or we'll do a photobucket and screw all your existing links

At least they are giving you some warning. Not that thats all that helpful.
$50 a year is a lot better than the $400 photobucket wanted though.

It appears Flickr have changed the addressing for img links to their pictures - a whole section of the URL is now different!
Apologies to anyone reading prior posts of mine which are now missing their images!

Change is recent - phew it's not been like it for ages and I've not noticed!
War Games 7 - above - is missing it's first photo now. But the link must have still been good for FB to pick up the picture when I posted the link two weeks back.

When I get time tomorrow, I'll go through the catalogue poll and work out when the new style links start.

That'll mean all my images in posts have gone. Why would they do something as stupid as that? Knew I should have put some image software on my own server.

Here's a broken pic url: https://c7.staticflickr.com/6/5630/31178532862_2ff72136e2_m.jpg which produces but if I change the bit in the bold it works: https://live.staticflickr.com/5630/31178532862_2ff72136e2_m.jpg which produces Curiously SOME of the older style links do still work: https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5538/30847376185_7360850647_m.jpg produces And comfortingly, in terms of the job ahead correcting the problem, the newer style version does too for the images that still work with the old links https://live.staticflickr.com/5538/30847376185_7360850647_m.jpg So I'm guessing this is something to do with Flickr's servers not resolving the older style address into the newer one. A quick flick though blog entries seems to indicate the problem is confined to the period when I was generating links for The War Games!

Just been alerted to a possible issue linking to Twitter images - the images, not the tweets, which I've been doing a lot recently. It looks like they might be showing OK ether because I'm logged into twitter or that my browser has cached them. This post here: tmukhub.proboards.com/post/377550/threadCan everyone see two images on each row? Are some of the images on the left showing as a broken image icon? When you click on the icon doe it take you to the image?

I see both images on each row and clicking on them takes me to the originals.
On that note - did the two pictures I posted of the Lovell Telescope show up alright? I was using a new method to do it because Flickr wouldn't log in on my laptop.

Cool. I think I might ditch Flickr. Although it seems embedding images direct from OneDrive doesn't allow you to automatically link to a higher res version.

Anyone know how to get the photos to actually appear on the page at all? You need a direct link to the image. I don't know how flickr works to get it.

Click the share button - it's the curved arrow pointing to the right at the bottom right of the photo.
Clich the BBCode tab on the dialog that pops up
Select the size - anything larger than 1024 across will probably be too large and get scaled down
Copy the BB code
Paste the BB code into the forum
Delete anything after the first [/url]
Boom. Done.

Any recommendations for a free image hosting website so that I can post photos here? My Flickr account no longer works, it's been that long since I've used it.

I've been able to recover my Flickr account. The customer service was refreshingly helpful and efficient. It turned out that it's such a long time since I used the account, the login name was an old household email that I forgot even existed!

Just wasted a portion of the morning trying to work out why the links and images in this post didn't work: tmukhub.proboards.com/post/448335/threadTurns out there was a line of code in my spreadsheet that lower cased the link and image URL..... and I have no idea why t was there!

Had to do some digging this morning. The alt tag in the image instruction, generated automatically if you use the Image button, will display text if an image can't be loaded. The title tag in the image instruction, which you'll need to insert yourself, will give you a popup tooltip telling you what the image is when you hover over it: This will prove VERY useful on Friday!

Hello! Martin's found an issue with some of the images I've been using. Can you lmk if you can see the images in this post: tmukhub.proboards.com/post/449520/threadI could do with knowing what browser you're using, what device (Windows PC, Mac, iPad, Phone etc) and if you're logged in to Twitter.

Nope. Firefox, Windows laptop, running Adblock. Still can't see them even if I reload the page after opening the Twitter link in another tab, But they show up OK in the old Internet Explorer. As does the Racing Rig. Martin
