Grrrr. As an unwelcome follow up to my room being given away last Wednesday, it turns out I was charged a no show fee, despite me pointing out it shouldnt be there when I paid for my stay the day after.
At least between that and getting all the credit card holds back my bank balance is where I was expecting it to be. Or will be if there are no more screw ups when they refund me.
It would have caused me to go over my limit and rack up some very nasty fees, if I hadnt spread around payments for the van hire and other costs in a moment of paranoid caution.

You should show them the photo of the room full of boxes as proof you were there!! Hope it gets sorted quick!

It's pretty rubbish they knew there was a problem and couldn't sort it properly when you were there.

they were shocking mate, more compo for you i think!! I'm honestly teetering on making a complaint. At the time I was mostly concerned about them having issues with the state of the room or having to move. So I was relieved that it was sorted quickly and Ed and I got 2 free meals out of it. But having had time to think about it if I hadnt gone upstairs when I did a group of complete strangers would have been given free reign of our room and belongings. If that had been the end of it I would have left it, but its been preying on my mind for the last week as I knew something didn't add up (the reciept showing a no show charge even though I wasnt being charged it on the total of that reciept is probably the cause). But I couldn't work it out while I was still waiting for holds for van hire to be returned. Once they did I wasted 2 or 3 hours today trying to figure it out. I think I'll wait and see if there are any issues with the refund.

Yeah that bit annoys me because I pointed out there was a no show charge on the reciept and I couldnt get them to check why. As it wasn't adding to the total on the reciept they seemed to think it wasnt an issue. If they had looked in to it they would have seen it was being charged to a different card and could have been sorted 8 days ago.

Make a complaint. It's the only way to have redress.

I never used to be someone who made complaints but in recent years I have found it is the only way to be heard. -Ralph

Complaining is the only way things ever change. Albeit slowly.
...sometimes.
