Intrigued to know what a 'rare' track from Evil of the Daleks is.

However both wh smiths I checked are not selling their own 'exclusive' edition of DWM so pennies saved!

Reports on Gallifrey Base that longstanding DWM contributer Dominic May (of the staple 'Beyond the TARDIS' feature) has apparently passed away this week. -Ralph

Rather sudden and unexpected by the sound of things.

Been watching the Blu-ray release of Hitch-Hikers. Beautifully polished up. It is making me waver on buying into the Who releases regardless of not having the first. Come on, beeb. Reissue season 12. I will only waver when all the sets are available. I'm not starting a collection of *new* releases if I can't complete it. -Ralph

You are right, Ralph. I must remain strong. Besides, the Davison one has almost gone out of print now too. Up to about 58 on Amazon. Still just about 45 in the marketplace.

The Davison one that just came out is just about out of print too? This range is just taking the piss.
Guess I'll be sticking with the DVD's then!

Yeah, it's teetering on the edge. I've had it on a wishlist to watch the price. Amazon exhausted their stock a few weeks ago and the cheapest new seller is now £60.
To be fair, I can understand that. It's been on sale for five months. Anyone who wanted it could buy it in that time and it was badged as limited edition. It's not the like the season 12 one which went out of stock almost as soon as it went on sale. In fact that five-month window makes me think it's unlikely these will get reissued in standard cheap packaging. The Beeb know this will be a limited appeal thing so they're not going to want to keep loads of these boxed sets in circulation like they did the DVD line because disc sales are on the way out. At £40 they were also cheap for what they are anyway, a plastic case release for £30 or whatever just doesn't seem realistic to me now.
It really hurts me to think I don't have the best version available of my favourite TV show, but I don't want a collection with a season missing. The BBC are daft not have done a second run, limited edition or not.

Watching more of the new extras on the Guide BR to cheer myself up. Brilliant behind the scenes stuff. I am wavering on the Who discs now. I may give in and get the Davison one before it goes. A season collection in better quality with new extras is soooo hard to pass on. Resolve is crumbling big time.

I panicked. Amazon sellers want £65 for Season 19 now and Zoom still had it for retail. Now the Season 12 set is out in America it is available for a sensible price, just not in the same packaging. It was Hitch Hikers that did it. Knowing all the film inserts for Season 19 have been remastered and are HD quality I... I just couldn't pass it up.
I am doomed to have different packaging for S12 unless they reissue it, but I must have the best quality and most complete collection of Who!

Been reading the GB threads on the BR sets to learn about the errors on the discs. There seem to be rather a lot.

You're joking?
I thought it was just the first set that was borked?
QC under current regime not great. Last two DVD's borked but no recall. A sharp contrast to how errors were dealt with before!

Next animation is The Faceless Ones!
Bit left field, especially with Evil and Wheel and Fury still on the table, but I guess they want to use their season 4 assets (even though Ben and Polly aren't in a it a lot)

I reckon they're also hammering Season 4 to do a BR set.

You're joking? I thought it was just the first set that was borked? QC under current regime not great. Last two DVD's borked but no recall. A sharp contrast to how errors were dealt with before! -Ralph There are lots of small errors on all the sets, mostly down to things like film inserts being remastered and then not put back in properly or bits being remade for HD with errors - Andrew McCulloch's name being mis-spelt in the credits for Meglos being an example. A lot of it is real fine detail fan observations that a QC checker might not see. But there's also stuff like one of the Blue Peter clips in the extras on one set having two soundtracks playing simultaneously, the original and one that was used to replace it to remove music they'd have to pay copyright on. There seem to be a lot of small things like that. The S12 set has two replacement discs and the S18 now has a replacement disc for an error in the mono soundtrack on Leisure Hive too. Worldwide are also looking into a problem in the S19 set that might get a replacement disc. I think the problem is that these sets have had a lot of small changes made to the episodes, and because of the size of them they aren't being properly checked before being put into production. It's crap though. Takes the shine off what should be the pinnacle of owning the series.
