My girlfriend likes Doctor Who. She rates McGann (she is a keeper) and her favourite is Tennant. She hadn't seen any Pertwee and wanted to see a Sarah Jane story so we put on the first two episodes of THE TIME WARRIOR last night. Episodes 3 and 4 in due course!
She also has not seen any Hartnell. What would be a good one to start on?

Play it depending on interest: if she'd like light-hearted, go Romans; near future Sci-Fi, go War Machines; fantastic Sci-Fi, Dalek Invasion; hardcore historical with animated fillers, Reign.
Or, sod all that and go Unearthly Child part one followed by The Daleks.

Now as everyone knows I LOVE The Sensorites so not a bad idea.
However, Pinwig's suggestion of AN UNEARTHLY CHILD then THE DALEKS is the best idea.

Pleasantly shocked by how good a Chibbers episode was today. So much more pace and excitement than last series already.

The first third was a complete clunky mess of confusing exposition, the second third was just *there* but I really enjoyed the last third! That's pretty much what I felt. Half way through I was wondering if the show wasn't called Doctor Who if I'd be bothered watching another episode, but from the party onward it redeemed itself. You know, at the time, the RTD episodes felt so removed from the original series, but looking back at them now they're much closer to it than I realised.

So we've got Spearhead from Space on tonight for a 50th rewatch. I'm seeing all our old friends like the Cyberman Spaceship and Palitoy Death Star when suddenly the Doctor's anti Auton machine catches my eye..... and in particular the nice shiney silver sphere the Mic lead has been plugged into. Now earlier in the episode we see this on the Doctor's workbench where it's been opened up and you can see the inners. Forgive me not the greatest picture: Which rang a bell....... Where else have we seen a shiny silver sphere of about that size opened up and with electronics inside? Oh yes, Web of Fear! Now I can't be 100% certain, mainly due to the Spearhead photo, but in that I can see a beige tab sticking up towards the edge with a rounded end and I can see similar i the Web of Fear photos. Both have a central core of some sort with bits sticking out. What I can't see in Spearhead are the prominent small silver balls but I suppose they could have got separated in the meantime. I think the sphere in The Doctor's anti Auton device is a Yeti Control Sphere!
