The Chronicles have jumped from £10 to £12 but I don't mind as they have a lot of reading.
Wanting on my subs copy of the latest Special. Sigh.

Subs Special of 'Showrunners' arrived today. It's quite poor this one, isn't it? Oh well, they can't all be winners.

Think that's what made me question why I was buying them. They're so frequent now that they've run out of themes to use. Some are great, like the Target one a few back, but some seem unnecessary.

Disappointed this evening. I enjoyed the first two issues of the relaunched DWAS TARDIS zine and in Feb bought #3 and 4 from DWAS's eBay store. They didn't arrive so I contacted them and they resent the issues, but these also haven't arrived. I've had no post go missing for as long as I can remember and the chances of two separate packets going missing, especially ones that would fit through the letterbox, seems phenomenally unlikely, so something must be wrong at their end. But they're not interested in helping to solve the problem, they just refunded me and implied the problem was at my end. I bought the first two issues by the same method without any problem a year or two back, so this has left me somewhat frustrated. eBay seems to be the only way they sell these issues, so I've now no idea how to get them.

Does anyone know of a list of Target books published since 2011? Both new and reprints. As I am reorganising, I see that I am probably missing a few but having trouble finding a publication list! -Ralph I *think* I now have the gaps being filled by what is in the post. The next releases are due in the summer. I do hope The Timeless Children gets a Target at some point... The 1963/64 Chronicles issue has been ordered as Smiths is variable about which ones they get in. -Ralph

I do like some of that cover art. The Warriors' Gate one feels very fitting for the story.

Did anyone go for the Illustrated Doctor Who and the Daleks? Reading the article about it in DWM rekindled my interest. They're thinking it might be the first in a series of illustrated editions like the beautiful Harry Potter ones. I just wondered what the quality of production was like. The cover looks poor to me though, esp. with the Whittaker logo. And the cover image is no where near as good as all the draft versions shown in the article. Never saw one in a book shop so took a chance and ordered one from Booksetc a couple of weeks ago. If it turns up, I will report in. -Ralph

It's here and looks nice enough. The £20 is fair for it but not the £30 RRP so I expect it will have stiffed, especially as the illustration style looks quite 'old'. I like it though.
Marks off for having Neil Gaimon's name on the cover being larger than the author or illustrator. Always annoys me when I see that crap in publishing. Sure, his name on the front will attract some customers but he didn't write or draw the bloody thing. He also gets a mini bio along with the writer and illustrator. Er, WTF??!!
Nowt against Gaimon. The book text is a straight reprint of the 2011 edition, using his (very sweet) info and the mini features from then.
I like it overall. I'm just not sure who it is aimed at (especially as the much cheaper 2011 edition is still available).

I'm trusting in Smiths with this one.
However I did receive last year's four Target novels from Amazon yesterday. Well, three, and another book that was in such poor condition I could barely tell it was actually Stones of Blood. The cover was wrecked and the pages all torn. A replacement copy is on the way. I thought I better do those four before the next five come out in July.

I was expecting a bit more than a poster and a promo comic for the £3 price hike on DWM this month. Being a subber it doesn't really affect me, but £11 seems an astronomical price for a newstand magazine.
