I dont think Darkwing wants to live with me. 20 odd years ago I recieved Dreawind and Darkwing for Christmas. Inside Darkwings box I found Dreadwind. Clearly Darkwing knew where he was to be sent and duped a Dreadwind in to the box. Back it went to TRU only for all the Darkwings to have been sold. Twice he escaped me. Fast forward 20 years and Darkwing changes his name to Darkwind in his efforts to ellude me. The plan fails and I finally purchase him and can plainly see Darkwind and not Dreadwind lurking in the box. I am happy. Even happier when I get him out the box and discover he make noises. Oh happy days. It was not to last. Over the weekend I discovered that Darkwind has 2 left feet. So once again back he must go, leaving me to ponder how he will next plan to escape my cluthes. Andy

What a menacing little Decepticon! He's almost as sly as his fellow Decepicons in Andy T's comic strip.

Can the Nebulans/heads of the 1987 Headmasters fit into the Transformers/necks of the 1988 Headmasters and activate their Tech Specs Meters and vice versa?

I think so.
I have G1 Siren w/quig, and I have weirdwolf's body, I put Quig in Weirdwolf, and i think it stayed.

I know the smaller headmasters from 88 can fit on the larger 87 bodies so I gues the reverse is true, but don't think I ever tried it.

I think the answer is yes.
The original idea behind Headmastes was that the heads would be interchangeable depending on which feature was deemed more necessary (strength, intelligence or speed?).
Each particular Headmaster will activate a different tech-spec reading

Well there is only one way to definately find out, someone get a couple of the old head masters(like highbrow, weirdwolf etc), and then some of the newer ones (nightbeat, fangry etc) and try to interchange their heads, see if they work

Nightbeat's head will fit on Chromedome!

I just tried Duros in Fangry's body and it worked. The only problem was that Fangry's animal legs get in the way, so Duros' legs have to stay in robot mode configuration. The same problem also meant that Krunk wouldn't go in at all as he attaches differently to the other HMs.

Finally, somebody willing to put theory to the test and put the rest of us out of our misery.
I wish Cerebros fitted the other headmasters.

But correct me if I'm wrong - because I did this many years ago but...
If memory serves correctly- while the heads do fit - the big Headmasters don't go all the way into the little headmaster bodies?
Or do I remember wrong?

What about the Headmaster heads that were sold separately (in Japan I think) that didn't come with a robot body. Which Headmaster robots do they fit into?

I remembered to try it out: Hosehead didn't let Stylor slip in easily, but the others gave it up without any fuss.

I see you picked up a Kirk too, Jim. I hope you got it from Japan before the prices there went mental a year or so ago.

Encore Headmasters would probably cost about the same as just buying them on ebay

Got it from YJ for about £50 in a job lot which included Snapdragon [with head, but no weapons], Hardhead's head, Grotusque [no gun or wings, but still sparks!], a couple of Strafes, a broken Rodimus Prime, and some other bits I can't remember right now. Most of which I will eventually get around to selling and hopefully make my money back. I really want the other Heads, but like you say, prices are too mental at the moment. An Encore giftset would be the only affordable way.

Spasma on Horri-Bull's shoulders is scaring me though! The reason I chose that combination was that I remember finding a Horri-Bull at a boot fair in my youth, with Spasma instead of Kreb. The horrific memory still haunts me. The Decepticon HM Jr guys are much smaller than the Autobot guys, so the large HMs look much weirder on them.
