After over an hour sat on the throne of power I have come to the conclusion that
a) there might be something a bit wrong with my tummy
b) sleep isn't coming back again any time soon
c) a hot drink would do me the world of good.
I'm wondering if I can get away with watching Genesis of the Daleks 6 without waking Liz or Jonathan up.....

Tonight at 9pm on Yesterday, Matt Dallas makes his non-speaking acting debut in the history documentary Narrow Escapes of World War Two. See if you can spot him. I can bear witness that the TF collection in Matt's loft is very neatly organised and displayed to good advantage, even if it doesn't contain toys by the crateload like certain other lofts. I can also bear witness that Paul Wright has been made an honest woman. Or something like that. Martin

Everything just seems to set me off at the moment. I've been like this for a few weeks now but I am finding myself punching walls just a tad too often. Very frustrating.

I'm not easily annoyed (ref. patience with plumbers who made me take time off work three times this month and failed to keep their appointments every time, before agreeing to come on Saturday and finally getting the job done to my satisfaction) but today was an exception. I had a train ticket for travelling from Rochester to London, across London on the tube, and then from Paddington to Cardiff. I had time to kill, so I decided to walk part of the way across London rather than ride all the way. Apparently using one's own feet is against the rules, for when I tried to pick up my underground journey half-way, I was told that I had "exited the system" and could not use my ticket. I would have to spend £4 in order to do half the journey that I already had a ticket to do the whole of. I resented this so much that I would have walked all the way back to where I started and do the full-length ride rather than pay twice, but I didn't have time.
I very much begrudge that £4. The gate attendant could have let me in, but he was too much of a jobsworth to allow common sense to prevail.

Ah, the complexities of through ticketing. I sympathise, I had endless problems working out what tickets to get when I was travelling up from my mothers to London and I only worked out on the day that we went up to Hendon that there was a much cheaper way to do things than I had been doing. A mixture of my ignorance of the arcane workings of transport in London and a ticket machine that ran so slowly it took two minutes to respond to each input (I timed it, I think it was sending the impulses to the real computer hardware up in SW1 by string telephone) had somewhat defeated me.
In other news, first day back at work over and done with - could have gone better, could have gone worse. I'll settle for that all told.

After paying a hefty fee, got laptop back from 'repair' place. Whereas before I could at least access my data, now it won't even switch on.

I am halfway through the first week back to work after my holiday. I am looking forward to the end of the week to be honest. I'm not quite readjusted to the getting out of my bed at 06:30 as yet.

After spending all week moving things out of the living room for building work to be done we get a no-show from the builders.
Kinda stuck in a scenario with an empty lounge and a junk shop kitchen. Not good. Looks like we have to put up with it til Monday or Tuesday.

Dens! That's the answer! Building of Dens in woods! Piglet demanded we build a Den on a lengthy half-term trek through our local woods. My first attempt was not satisfactory to the child (little monstrous fiend!). So, large logs, even fallen trunks of trees themselves were dragged, lifted and carried to the site, and, an hour and a very hot and sweaty daddy later, Piglet was pleased. The Den had walls, a roof, and even a secret escape hatch. And I had a pulled muscle in my right rump area, but a very happy 5 year old!
Go and build a Den today, my friends! And your woes will be naught!

Clocks go back on Saturday (tomorrow) night, folks, which means the weekend is 49 hours long rather than the usual 48. What will _you_ do with the extra hour???
Me - the first time it hits 2am I shall be asleep. An hour later, when it hits 2am for a second time, I shall be asleep.

At the actual time the clocks change.... probably be sleeping, but in terms of having an extra hour in my schedule that wouldn't have been there otherwise.... I will probably spend it on the sofa doing some reading - my backlog of reading matter needs some progress made on it.

Managed to sort out the issues with the builders. Must have been either a communication glitch or they had conflicting job on elsewhere...
Either way the demolition and resurrection will both commence Tuesday onwards and we must endure with the house being turned upside down now until 2 or so weeks later. No easy having a baby around all that. Going to make the best of it.

Lurgy of the last month (hopefully) lifting but decided running around not the best idea so spent day vegetating in local cinema. 3 films seen back to back, going again in a bit.

Real Steel is on the way out of cinemas. My local has it down to just a morning showing as of Monday so get in quick.
I plan to catch In Time next week. We usually get one proper SF movie a year and we've already had one (Source Code). Could this be 2 for 2?
