There's a gaping wound in the MCU...
And it is the absence of The Fantastic Four.

Can't say as I've missed them, but then, the FF have never really done anything for me.

I'm with Urzu. I know they're the originals so to speak, but the FF are just dull.

I'm with Urzu. I know they're the originals so to speak, but the FF are just dull. Based on the little non X-Men I'd read I would have said the same about Iron Man and well most of the MCU. When I was reading comics back in the late 90s Thor wa the only one of them that briefly had my attention.

I think if someone just told me the concept of the FF I'd be in the same camp, but my first exposure to them was reading John Byrne's first issue as collected in a Marvel UK Annual my brother owned and I absolutely loved it.

The FF are an odd beast. The idea of a crime fighting family comes from a previous generation and had been struggling in the Marvel Universe for some time.... Possibly since Byrne left, with a few decent runs in the comics after that point.

I have had it proven to me that there are some top notch FF stories, i.e. Walt Simonson, but that doesn't necessarily mean I'm sold on the FF concept - rather on that writer. And I greatly preferred his Thor.

There so many great stories....
But let's focus on the modern, have any of you... you... non-F4ers, read the Hickman run? It's a thing of beauty.
They're a FAMILY. Which makes them more intimate... It makes them and their dynamic different to the other great comic book teams. They're also fascinating and interesting individually.
And they're also The Sentry's friends.
I'm very disappointed with the non-F4ers.... The Great Doctor and I will make you pay.

What if Pinwig just harmlessly passed on those Class CDs to me without listening to them! Or the books!!

The FF are my favourite Marvel *team* due to the relatively stable roster (the Avengers and X-men line-ups change so often that I have a hard time caring anymore) and overriding family dynamic. I do enjoy it when superbeings are depicted as ordinary squabbling-but-dedicated units. It's the same kind of dynamic that has held the TMNT so close to my heart. I don't think it's any coincidence that Reed Richards, undoubtedly the least normal among them, I find the least interesting.
