OMEGA SUPREME IS IN MY HOUSE. 49 days.... Just noticed Smyths have a tenner off running until tomorrow. My local has an Omega. Time to bite? OMEGA SUPREME IS IN MY HOUSE. 23 days.... Caved. I wasn't going to because this figure feels like it'll be doing the rounds well under a hundred in a few months, but I don't want to risk not having Omega. He's one of the elite in my books. The shelves in the new Portsmouth Smyths go even higher than the other one. I've never seen shelves so high. It also isn't in the old toys r us shop, just the same retail park. I'm hiding this though. Christmas treat. I have witnessed Phil's in the flesh but I'm trying to forget that. Same. Put away for Christmas which if Im correct will will be 30 years since I got Countdown. Which was my big motivation for getting him. Also because I doubted it would go much lower. Predaking never went below £100 and Omega doesnt seem any more widely available. My Smyths had 3 on the very top shelf. With my ocd ish desire for undamaged boxes it had to be the last one I got down that was up to standard. It nearly wasnt as I had to step on the bottom shelf and with a single out reached finger gently pull it off the Omega Supreme it was sat on and then catch it on the way down while stepping down from the shelf.

I couldn't reach. They had two, and they were about 12 feet up. The guy had to go right up the ladder, and even then there was a shelf above with a load of Jetfires on.
You know, I was trying to think earlier what the Titan was last year and I just couldn't remember Predaking. I just had all the knockdown Fort Maxes and Trypticons swirling round my head. I could just see Omega hitting 80 quid somewhere when Earthrise starts. But, it's done.

Yes, this is my dilemma. Will his price drop like Trypticon's did? Possibly. But dare we risk it? Possibly. Nnnng.

Was Predaking sold in the UK? I never saw it.
I am taking the chance on Omega going on deep discount. I just can't afford/justify a £140 toy.

Titans have been insanely unpredicatable.
Metroplex went way way up.
Devastator also went up but not sure how high
Fort Max crashed.
Trypticon value seems to have stayed about level overall, but was the only one (in the UK ) to get heavily and widely discounted.
Predaking dropped slightly then started going up.

Metroplex was probably underproduced being the first one. It got reissued in Japan too which suggests there just weren't as many of them. The two combiners seem to be the worst offenders for price/availability, and again, Devastator got a Japanese reissue. Although I recall Predaking coming very close to £100 before going up because I remember Bogatan being dead set on not getting it until it was under a hundred, despite it being like £105 or something very close. Max seemed either to be massively overproduced, or just not desired, and Trypticon was heavily discounted everywhere too. Those indicators suggest a sub-hundred Omega next spring, but we'd never be able to predict accurately.

Max had a lot of variants produced, each of which would have had a minimum number of units needed to be produced to make it economic.

It's true, I was thinking that. But then Devastator was the same with the US/Jap/SDCC bit. In terms of our world, using import shops, the number available of the SDCC Max through A1, Kapow's surprisingly large stock and the option of the Japanese one meant that the choice was huge and I think the demand may have been less because he was effectively a Metroplex remould.

They were definitely overly optimistic on Max as it got down to $45 in the states.
I almost regret refusing to buy Predaking for more than £100, but honestly even at £80 I dont think I woudld have been impressed by it.
Maybe if I end up with modern versions of every other G1 combiner it will bug me more.

Max seemed either to be massively overproduced, or just not desired Max had a lot of variants produced, each of which would have had a minimum number of units needed to be produced to make it economic. It didn't help that one of Max's modes, the city, was distinctly sub par, the Battleship mode "could have been better" and the robot was Metroplex rehashed. Throw in the missing guns, necessary for robot & battleship mode and more important to the western portrayal than the sword..... IIRC there's also a ramp on a (both?) shoulder which isn't long enough to do anything with evidence it shuld have been longer.

Now that I have MP-Black Arachnia locked away until Christmas, I'm starting to feel your pain.
Of course there's some difference in that I'm waiting for an actual good figure, but y'know.
