Whilst the shelves themselves were loose, the brackets are firmly attached to the wall. You don't have a key.

What happened to the key? I thought we had a key?

The key was automatically dropped when we used it. The text suggested we were discarding the key and the bed because they were no longer useful, which felt odd because we haven't used the bed for anything. Anyway, let's try it to make sure we've covered all bases.
GET key UNLOCK door

Could
LOOK outside
again to see if the dogs have gone. Our best bet to open the door is to get the crowbar, but we need to negotiate the dogs to do that. Martin suggested we would be more mobile without the bed. There has to be a reason why we needed to remove it. Maybe now we can sprint more quickly?

Maybe we can throw the bed out of the window to occupy the dogs while we sneak past and get the crowbar. That doesn't seem very sensible though.

KNOCK on door and SHOUT to guards? You bang on the door and yell at all your might. The noises from outside the door come closer. As whatever is outside approaches the door, not only is there a shuffle but you also hear something else - a whirring of some kind, servos?
Through the door you hear a muffled semi-robotic voice, almost... voices, but at the same time definitely just one?
'POSSIBLE THREAT DETECTED... INVESTIGATING...'
The shuffling comes close, you can hear it attempt to gain entry through the door. The handle and door shakes, but the lock holds. Its efforts, however insistent they may have been, are short lived.
'POSSIBLE THREAT CONTAINED...'
The shuffling continues back away from the door to where it had come from, presumable on to the task it was doing prior to your impressive shouting.Use bed as trampoline. Its celebration time. The bed is folded on the floor, as much as the escape from the dogs was invigorating coming so close to death, better not.The key has served its purpose, you leave it on the ground. The door is bolted from the inside with a few heavy looking bolts. They're attached to the wall in no discernible arrangement. Whomever attached them must have been in a rush. You slide them to the unlocked position and the door eases ajar.

Ah HA!
Sooo... we locked ourselves in? or someone did and then went out the window, which would explain why it was still open.
Now then chaps, let's be careful. There are robots outside.
LOOK corridor.
(wait a minute, could we have done that right from the start? I notice also we've sidestepped EXAMINE door here because we didn't see the bolts when we looked at the room).

I bet the robots are protecting something. We're the threat; the fact we're contained in the room isn't us being imprisoned, it's the robot verifying we can't get in. But now we can!

Do it! Do it! Do it! *bouncy bounce bounce* This is of strategic value. We need to test how bouncy our bed is, as we can use it to bounce over enemies.

Ingenious.
Well, regardless of where the auto-save takes us, we have a rock solid SAVE at the point of the end of the last puzzle. So I guess at the moment we can entertain anything knowing we can get back to that point.

This game engine is crafty. Looking back, when we looked at the room on page 2, it didn't mention the door at all. Only the short description said there was a door behind and a window in front. Clearly we needed to LOOK at the door individually to see the bolts. So - any short form room description that contains references to items means those items need to be examined individually. We were about to do that with the door but got distracted by the window. Which means we could have seen the bolts on the door nine pages ago if we'd been methodic.
I'm wondering if the room is so cramped we wouldn't have been able to exit through the door while we were attached to the bed, which is why we needed to remove it (possibly unlikely). Doing it the way we have we've avoided knowing why we needed to remove the bed.
In any case, remember the main door was to our right when looking out of the window, so we need to go left into the corridor to get round to that door, then nip out quickly and back to get the crowbar before the dogs reach us. Maybe we need to listen at the door until a robot goes past, then dash out quickly when the coast is clear. We also need to find a manual for driving the bike.
However, let's exhaust all options. So bounce away.

Ooh. I dunno. I assumed as we could climb out of the window we were on the ground floor. The note in the text that the outside is lower than the inside was just pushing us toward the shelf problem. I think the window was high up, not the room.

OK, so see how far we get with:
REMOVE trousers and underpants.
HANG underpants over window ledge.
WEAR trousers.
OPEN door.
DO Combat Yodel.
HIDE behind door.
WAIT for robot to enter and investigate window.
PUSH robot out of window.

Go back in to room. Close door. Lock door. Unfold bed. Take a nap. Feel reinvigorated. Use bed as trampoline. Fearing what may be on the outside, you take a step backwards away from the door. Reaching out, you push the door closed slowly and quietly so as to not draw attention to yourself, taking care to bolt every last lock for maximum protection. You move to the corner, unfold the bed and lie down wanting to take a nap.
The growls and snarls from outside the window however remind you at every opportunity that you are not yet safe and sleep is difficult, particularly on such a small bed. The canvas isn't particularly comfortable and any movement has you bump some part of your body on the frame.
That said, you do manage some sleep and awake feeling slightly better. Your headache is now gone and you feel in the mood for a little exercise. You move the bed into the middle of the room and take a good jump to try to get some air. The bed however isn't going to cooperate, it is after all just a thin aluminium frame with canvas stretched across.
The bed collapses, you trip forwards catching one foot in an opening between the canvas and the frame and fall out of the window. The bed acts as an anchor meaning you are hanging upside down at the mercy of the beasts. You put up a valiant fight, but there's no way you can win this one.
