I recall a time I got stuck in Simon The Sorcerer 2. There was a big mean dog blocking my path and I tried every item I had on it. Eventually I mis-clicked the 'Take' action on the dog itself. Simon duly obliged and used magic to shrink the dog to Chihuahua size and put in his magic hat inventory.
Similarly, the solution here is both obvious, but also requires a little outside the box thinking. Unlike the dog puzzle above, you have the information, it has all been given to you in the thread. I don't know what else I can say without making it too easy.

As for the password, maybe the logs themselves are a red herring, and the password is something like the guy's initials followed by some other word for logs.
Maybe the password is 'Stardate' because that's how Star Trek people begin their logs.
Maybe the password is something descriptive of the initialisation logs, such as 'Startup' or 'Boot text' or 'Gibberish' or 'Too fast'.

Have we tried going in the window and coming up behind the Borg? No, but I think we're being given a lot of suggestion from Stom's responses that the Borg isn't part of the answer to this. Not least from the index entries in the first post that are basically telling us to leave him. I'm just curious why we were given detail about the light on the end of his arm as it doesn't seem to have been useful for anything yet. Anything is possible at this point as we're being told to think sideways to find the answer. Just fire in some commands. I don't think it would be Trek related because we're trying to use Enrique's pre-Borg login to access the terminal. The hint had spanish exclamations... er, but was oddly written in English. The hint was on the back of the note, the note was on the front. Well, I think our note was on the back of the paper, we'd reused the paper Enrique wrote on.

Maybe it's time to give in. We first saw the user/password problem on Nov 22nd. We've been working on this for 34 days. We have at least found the username, but even with Stom's lateral thinking hint I can't see what we need to do. Do something unexpected with a standard command? Take? There's nothing to take. Look? We've looked at everything as far as I can see. I'm out of ideas.
