You know how some Transformers come with their own weapons?
Are there any Transformers that look/play better with another Transformers' weapons?
For example, though requiring a lot of blue tack, does Optimus Prime look better with Megatron's fusion cannon than his own rifle?

Actionmaster Sideswipe inherited a gun that looks great with it not sure where its from. In fact they've been paired up for so long until a few months back I thought it was Sideswipes gun.

Roller looked good with Outback's gun. You could re-enact 'Plague of the Insecticons' like that.

I believe it's quite common for Bludgeon to acquire Wierdwolf's tail since the toy doesn't come with a sword of its own.
I gave Classics Bumblebee Prime's smokestacks/gun for his own protection and he's had it so long I found myself briefly wondering where it stowed in his car mode the last time I transformed him.

I'm with Ralph mostly on 'weapons can NEVER be swapped raaargh' but Bumblee just seemed to mesh so well with that gun, I went through a phase forgetting it belonged to Prime (well, Magnus) and it lived with Bumblebee.

A little off-topic, but why oh why oh why, when so many Transfomers have two hands but only one hand weapon, do the likes of Skids, Grimlock and Sludge get three each, of which they can only hold two at any one time?

The reason behind your dislike of Clip & Bar becomes obvious A little off-topic, but why oh why oh why, when so many Transfomers have two hands but only one hand gun, do the likes of Skids, Grimlock and Sludge get three each, of which they can only hold two at any one time? Martin This used to annoy me when all TFs had slightly different sized hand holes but in the world of 5mm pegs and clip & bar it's a good thing and they can happily donate to the needy. Of course now weapons are integrated/concealed in the vehicle modes spare weapons happen less and less.

Does this mean Outback can wield Prime's rifle??! Not sure. Might be a tight squeeze. And I think there were a couple of different versions of Prime's fists/guns, some which may have been thicker than others. Martin

When it comes to hand-held weapons I am very comfortable swapping them around between toys. Anything mounted - 84 Jet gunpods for example I am much less happy to swap about.
The rationale being that surely the only reason to have handheld weapons is to be able to drop them and pick up another one if need be. You might not be as good with as the original owner (not necessarily having the same targeting algorythmns loaded) but interchangeability seems to me the best reason for having handheld weapons - otherwise you would be better off having everything built in where it would be harder to take away from you or for you to lose accidentally.
That said, it isn't something I do very often in my displays, 'bots mostly stick with what know......
As to why you would have more weapons than you have hands then surely applicability is the reason. If you are Grimlock you don't want to be trying to deal with a Decepticon Marksman a mile or two away whilst using a plasma shell shotgun, and likewise you probably want something with a bit of up-close stopping power when you are storming a 'Con bunker.

You raise interesting points, Mr T.
In my mind, I always figured Transformers only had certain weapons (or none at all) because of what their alternate modes could accommodate. For example, Windcharger never had a gun [in the comics] as there was nowhere for it to "fit" in his sports car mode.
Saying that, "Dinobot Hunt" did show Jazz ejecting his rifle from inside his thigh, which then enlarged by the time it got to his hand...

The only part I've ever swapped was to take Action Master Prowl's motorcycle side cannon and blu-tack it to Action Master Megatron's arm for a rather nifty fusion cannon.

I am trying to think of a TF that would suit Astrotrain's rifle since Astrotrain's toy himself cant hold up the rifle properly.

It does! And it's a shame it doesn't fit in Generations Thunderwing's hand, as it's quite nicely to scale!

hey all i was just wondering how many of you swap weapons around with your bots.
i am terrible for it, i start swapping bits while the packaging is still drifting to the ground.
do you guys have any favorite combanations or did you ever buy 2 transformers knowing you were going to immediatly switch weapons?
at the moment my favorite weapon swaps have been DOTM as it is so easy!
i have given dotm megs star screams guns, as they look good colourwise and fit nicely in both modes and even work well in combined rifle/stabby mode. (i tend to stick megs cannon on his back as a jetpack sort of thing)
i immediatly stripped laser beak of his guns ( i like laser beak and his guns, just not together) and stuck his guns on the sword side of my dotm shockwave to give him a more symetrical supa-tank mode.
i have retro fitted my deluxe dotm starscream to take cyberverse hatchets drone guns because they are just pure awesome, transforming weapons definately a win. i bought a second hatchet just for this! (well, and to have a spare hatchet to travel in my pocket)
and as a little odd one i really like the cyberverse scorpanok accessory turned upside down and stuck to the back of my (black repaint) cyberverse megs with the tail flipped back to make him into a weird tow truck looking thing... (plus i really like the megs repaint and i love the little scorpanok so it lets me keep them together)
if i am feeling like having a super armed meatron (to counteract the super-death-captain-ultra-apocalypse-world-destroyer-space tyrant-murder-jet-extra-killy prime), i have found that you can stick sentinals blade on megs roof, the smoke stacks fit though the holes in the blade and this can be held in place by resting scorpanok on megs tanker and clipping his claws over the smokestacks, giving megs a bit more of a fighting chance... (cyberverse scale)
now i just need to find a suitable shotgun for my voyager dotm megs (and a couple hand guns to clip on his hips to finnish off that cool gunslinger look) and a couple of guns for laserbeak...
any ideas?

I have had a problem swapping parts around with toys since I was ickle. It feels wrong to me to see a chap with the 'wrong' gun, etc. It hurts my brain, for reasons I cannot articulate!

I'm with Ralph, everything in it's place. Characters have to have their proper guns, Headmasters the correct Nebulans; Special Teams must have their limbs in the right order.

wow. yeah i see im a bit of an odd-un here. yeah i swap headmasters, limbs on gestalts, heck i even swap fixed bits to create a better aesthetic. does this also include third party add ons? for instance if some one made more G1 looking guns for DOTM laserbeak would you swap his guns for them? and if so what would you do with his old mechtech guns? this has made me thimk of another aspect do you guys stringently transform your transformers exactly to box standard? even if that means possible mistransformation? the reason i ask is because i frequently (mis)transform my TFs to whatever aesthetic suits me. for instance a bot might have wings pointing up on the box instructions or art but if i think the aesthetic is better with wings down i will put them down... there are of course limits, megatron should always have a canon on one arm (although i am pretty passive on which arm that should be. and shockwave should always have 1 eye and a gun arm... and so on... i think my attitude comes from a couple things, my love of transformers started early from a korean best freind so i was running around with diaclone (i still have some of my pilots!) and other mecha long before i had any official TFs so i developed my own fiction and characters. so if i thought a gun looked better on someone else, the gun was swapped. the next thing is i have always been a maker of things and now i am a sculptor by trade. so if i ever got a toy that wasnt close enough to the orriginal or a joint needed to be reworked to bring greater mobility i did it. i am forever dragging out the paints and dremmel to rework my toys to "improve" them. today i was repainting and working out a fabric cape for my dotm megs (cyberverse and legends)... hmmm i guess i have always been the collectors nightmare, very very rarely do i leave a transformer in packaging (although i do sometimes). usually the packaging is left torn and vacant at the checkout of the shop, and i have been known to hand any passing children any accesories i dont want... heh no wonder one of my local comic shop owners used to go pale when i went into his shop... i think it is really cool that such an odd common thread (plastic japanese transforming robots) can link people together that are so fundamentally different!

Hard to know where to put this but this is the thread for discussing how Transformers can freely exchange parts and weapons and indeed how it is part of the play pattern of the toys. What are your favourite examples?
To start us off -
1. Multiple Transformers fire weapons mode Megatron or Shockwave.
2. Ultra Magnus picks up a random gun to blast holes in Galvatron's energy syphon.
3. 5mm peg system
4. Siege armour and weapons
5. Headmaster heads
6. Targetmaster guns
7. Starscream uses Megatron's fusion cannon to shred Grimlock.
8. Megatron uses random gun he picks up off the ground to slay Prime.
9. Minicons
10. Micromaster bases can swap ramps.
11. Actionmasters can use each other's hand guns.

Your list can be divided into Fiction and toys Fiction 1. Multiple Transformers fire weapons mode Megatron or Shockwave. 2. Ultra Magnus picks up a random gun to blast holes in Galvatron's energy syphon. 7. Starscream uses Megatron's fusion cannon to shred Grimlock. 8. Megatron uses random gun he picks up off the ground to slay Prime. Toys - well done with what you listed first! 3. 5mm peg system 4. Siege armour and weapons 5. Headmaster heads 6. Targetmaster guns 9. Minicons 10. Micromaster bases can swap ramps. 11. Actionmasters can use each other's hand guns. I would add: * special team/scramble city limb swapping * Micromaster Combiner limb swapping * Energon Combiner limb swapping * Combiner Wars Combiner limb swapping * Powermasters * Brainmasters * Energon Stars & Weapons * Cybertron Leader Powerups IF THEY'D HAVE BOTHERED MAKING MORE THAN ONE ARM! * Soundwave & Blaster tape storage * Titanmaster & Primemaster weapons modes
