Bugger, especially so soon after Carlos Ezquerra, but that's a fine innings.
One of the pillars of early Dredd, joining McMahon and Bolland during Judge Cal in the early hundreds. Never quite made the transition to colour Dredd work. But over the period I was buying the comic in my teams he was doing about 50% of the drawing work. Less flashy than the other big names, but very very solid. Top contribution to Judge Cal, Judge Child - he did the War Planet stuff which I think is the bit of the story which holds up best, Block Mania, Dredd/Angel and City of the Damned. His highlight has to be The Graveyard Shift surely?
His TF issue is AMAZING and it's such a shame he never drew anymore. Do I recall that we know where most of the original pages are - I seem to remember James Wilson and I tracking them down on Twitter - and I think members on the forum own 50% of them!

Impactor first appears in issue 79, which was Jeff Anderson. As to who designed him....

As you say on Ron Smith though, I'm confident he is second only to Ezquerra in the amount of Dredd he drew, and so much of the wacky of the world came from his pen.

Sad news indeed.
As Phil said earlier The Graveyard Shift is probably the highlight of his Dredd run, Also worth checking out A Question of Judgement/Error of Judgement/Case For Treatment - a milestone story in Dredd lore that doesn't get the attention it deserves. The first real humanising of Dredd. It's in the Titan Dredd's in Volume 10 and Case Files Volume 7. If you haven't already then I recommend tracking them down.

Stumbled across two thirds of a page from this issue on Ebay. £169.99 - a quick consult with Gav and it was purchased. So even more in TMUK hands.

Imagine if all the pages of that TF issue still exist and also that owners consented to scans. Think of the possibilities! A black and white edition! A recolour edition (just for fun)!

The bottom of tier of my page is missing. Like that when the person bought it from Ron Smith. Might need to do a reconstruction on that one.
