Got a feeling those sleeves are on the Japanese releases. Don't think Hasbro's have them. I'm sure I read that somewhere.

Hasbro uses boxes identical to how FP packaged theirs. Only difference is Hasbro uses plastic instead of foam, and has a print on the cardboard.
I believe Takara is just using exactly the same packaging completely unchanged, only with that added sleeve.

I do like the Hound repaint. Having parted with my GF Exigeyser a while back I could be tempted by that.
As to the Powerdasher, I think that the Brig said it best - "Yes, I'm pretty sure that is Cromar".

I would have said it was too obscure, but then Redwing. Chance to do a Greenlight style pack with a couple of repainted Micromasters thrown in?
I think something like that is more likely to be repurposed, like the Powerdashers are unique compared to the City helper bots they came from.

Brave isnt TF though. Is there a precident for brave homages in TF lines, like there is for Gobots and Diaclone?
I mean, I see a lot people put up new TF molds and say a brave homage is imminent because the original brave is repainted from the original TF mold, but I can't think of one single brave homage in a TF line, like that.

No, bu the did Galactic Man which is ever so obscure.
Interestingly, despite the Diaclone cars used in Siege, we've yet to see a single Diaclone redeco rolled out for Select. No Blue Bluestreak. No Deepcover, Tigertrack or Clampdown. No Protect Black Ironhide. No red Mirage (does that have a TF name?) No Detritus - though the cards indicate one might be coming for mercenaries. NO DELTA MAGNUS!!!!!!!
And indeed most are generally avoided in the west.
All of these would be instant buys to a certain portion of fans and look like money on the shelf.
Bear with with replies for a min please.....
Done. Moved to the Select thread, as that was the direction the chat was going.
It'll be interesting to see what direction Select takes next year. Will it be just Earthrise repaints or will there be older toys used? SW Thundercracker & Skywarp, POTP Buster & Hydra are two sets of older repaints tha are money left on shelf

I think it'll be what it is now; the moulds in use for retail figures will get different coloured plastic injected to do a Select set at the same time. Hasbro aren't really thinking 'what do fans want' with this as they claimed, its more ' what else can we use this for while it's on the line that wouldn't fly at retail'. They know from the Botcon sets of old that if you slap 'exclusive' on the box, fans will buy anything. In the case of something like Smokescreen, which would have sold at retail, it's pretty clear that the style change for Earthrise meant they needed to get as many mould uses out the door as possible as fast as they could because they're all now redundant. Hence seven tetrajets in the space of six months.

Smokescreen is slightly more complicated and probably runs something like "we need more deluxe Decepticons, who's a cheap easy repaint? Barricade." and that bumps Smokescreen and Bluestreak out of standard retail.
I did start a Siege repaints table, must finish it.

As Select currently lacks any sense of identity as a distinct line it's anyone's guess what could turn up in it!

Which means we're likely to get all the original see- attack planes next year, so we can be inundated with Cycloni and Scourguses in 2021.

I'm down for that. I took Siege Thundercracker off the to buy list as soon as we saw Starscream. What would really impress me is proper remoulding to do the coneheads. I worry about how and where though. The Target Rainmakers pack was pretty expensive as it was, and that was single colour repaints of the existing mould. The Coneheads all need new wings but I can't see them all being retail releases. Too many.

It too them a couple years. This time we're getting four uses in just a few months, with two of them sharing the shelf at the same time. Also, it makes sense Bluestreak and Smokescreen are the two exclusives here. They're the more obscure of the four, and only hardcore fans, G1ers, and mold completionists will care. And those are the ones who will chase down exclusives no matter what, anyway.

Cromar: just as I thought from the pictures, I can't really get excited about this in hand. All done OK, but some how it just doesn't sing. Although I not the arms are now a different colour to the body so why didn't they do that for Sixgun and give him all black arms like he should have?
Unlike Hot Shot who looks amazing in hand, a real surprise quite how good. The Hound sculpt only has a superficial resemblance to Cybertron Defence Hot Shot, so the work here is being done by the new head and the superb colour job, which really works. Loving this. In robot mode he's lacking the sword the original had.... but fortunately I had a spare in a parts lot some years back which he's now wielding.

I actually much prefer the Hound mold as Exigeyser for some reason - I think it's just the combination of colour scheme and head sculpt. Which is odd, because I care nothing for the character - I just really like how it looks.
And Omnibots? Maybe. But that's too predictable now. It'll be more versions of movie-only characters instead. Or Go-Bots. It'll be Go-Bots.

We'd never be lucky enough to get gobots. These guys think of Beast Wars as a joke, and a thing to pretend that didn't happen. Which is a pretty typical geewunner stereotype. So they're gonna think even worse of gobots.
I also think they probably blew out their imaginations with turning micromaster bases into weaponizers.

Dear Hasbro,
Please may I have half a dozen of Zetar's Special Drill to use with other Transformers?
And another half dozen with a peg instead of a hole on the back?
