I swear to god, if that megatron is purple or grey... But yeah. Huge grain of salt. G2 Megatron in this hasbro culture seems too good to be true. A ton of things on that list are all very obvious (like hubcap and rotorstorm), and... Clone set??? |

Weird. Seeker 2 pack means Shockprowl's one step closer to his Siege Skywarp but that'll be an exclusive somewhere. Voyager Thrust presses all my buttons as he was the first jet I had as a kid.
But Exhaust as a retail release? Selects surely. Hothouse as a Selects makes no sense either if they're trying to push the base/connection gimmick at retail. Hubcap and Rotorstorm are obvious repaints but what the heck are those last two?

G2 Megatron makes sense to differentiate it from the last one. The Prime is almost the same, but the trailer is the selling point there. Another grey tank Megatron, presumably this one will have reused/remoulded parts like Prime, would be almost like a reissue. It needs a USP and Hasbro must know the fans are asking for a green one.
I love Siege Megs. He's one I don't really see the need to change, but a green one would make a nice alternative.
I was also thinking that Wheeljack looks cool, but then realised the in-hand one we've seen doesn't have those big wings.

Okay, like... Here's something weird.
I've made no secret that I've been a bit put off by Gen Select Hotshot.
I mean, I liked the toy on it's own? It's a pretty deco, very nice headsculpt, and in general a nice mold and redeco.
But it never looked anything like the toy/character it was homaging, in a time where almost every g1 character is getting exact, near perfect updates. Even absolute nobodies like Apeface, and Spinister.
So while it's a lovely toy on it's own, the two original Cybertron Hotshots do the job of being Hotshot better.
I just got the reprolabel set for him, and something really clicked.
This set adds a flame pattern that, even though no version of Hotshot ever had one, just really makes him actually feel like a new version of Hotshot.
While I've had sets that really improved a toy, this is the first time that it's really made the intended character actually work for me.

Best/educated guesses for the fun of it.
1. Spinister repaint
2. Airwave repaint
3. Cliffjumper retool
4. Megatron, with something horribly wrong.
5. Skywarp and Thundercracker, or Sunstorm and Acidwing
6. Runabout & Runamuck
7. Wheeljack repaint as either Marlboor, or Slicer- Hasbro hasn't much precident with the marlboor deco. But they like Slicer, but lost the name. So it could go either way.
8. Ironworks repaint
9. Could be anything. Best guess is it's a name reuse, likely for a battle/rampmaster
10. ?? No clue what this is.
11. Runamuck retool, obviously.
12. Hoist retool, obviously.

And the only time it's been officially done was botcon 07, and the earlier ehobby set
I think a name reuse for a battlemaster at this point seems as logical as anything else.

I'd not be surprised at all if [Ratchet]'s a brand new mold that looks almost identical to Siege. That seems to be the general theme of this line. And yet it still won't have a red head and a white crest. Like they'll never give us a black helmet Megatron... |
