I figured out why Megs seems so off. It's been pointed out earlier that his stripes are too thick, but it's more than that. That they're too thick is throwing off his entire color profile.
Not only does it make him look green, it makes his grey look yellowish.

Perhaps it was the demise of TRU that finally prompted Hasbro to listen to what fans have been telling them for years and do an exclusives line properly.
I notice it's been said this Megatron has a remoulded head, which bodes well. Perhaps if this line kicks off it won't just be repaints we get through it.

So i got my megatron today, and a few things of note-
It's definitely following FunPub's lead. The only thing the packaging lacks is a foam insert, and the toy is packaged in robot mode. It's also printed on, which is well known. I wish they hadn't, as not I feel I can't throw it out.
It also feels like a funpub toy as the deco goes that extra mile further than hasbro usually goes. It also follows through with silliness Hasbro wouldn't normally do, such as printing "MEGATRON" across his chest (which makes me feel this deco's designer understands G2 better than FP. FP always seemed to pull it in and never go far enough)
It follows Siege well, in that it does not photograph well at all, but is quite attractive in hand.

I didn't pay enough attention to the publicity shots of this toy for it to sink in that he has "MEGATRON" written on his chest.
Which makes my idea to repurpose him as Megaplex to be either unfeasible, or hilarious.
