Ahhh! That was the guy . I guess I conflated him with Reed comics for some reason. A very quick google of his name brought up an old TF archive post about somebody buying their DW comics from him. 18 years ago! Madness.

Page 45 is not a user friendly site on mobile. Tried FP but it sent me error messages about my card. I give up! Ordering the single issues is a pain in the ass. I'll wait for the trade and grab it off Amazon and avoid headaches.

Ratchet's MARB? Courtesy decoy guess to divert suspicion away from Straxus... I give up. Martin

Having tried a few places now, I find FP online to be the most reliable, hassle free and economical way to get US physical comics by post. Hooray! Thus, I have now been able to read the first two issues. Hmmm. It's ok, but I couldn't work out quite why it wasn't gelling with me until I realised the Punch/Counterpunch framing bits were getting on my tits. That worked fine in a one-shot but irritates now. I don't like the story being constantly interrupted by a guy essentially saying: "What a twist! Keep reading for MORE THINGS YOU THOUGHT WERE TRUE AREN'T!". Just stop it. Still it's not as bad as HOXPOX for not letting a story breath.
What makes this though are the visuals. It looks fabulous and really does evoke the feel of early Marvel US issues. For that alone, it is completely worth it.

Issue three... Still thrilling me. Love this series. Don't know if I'm reading it as canon or a fanciful what if, but it's great fun.

Alas, it's just not doing it for me at all, despite the fabulous visuals. The framing device is not to my taste.

Well, I have now read the final issue of this series, and can't help but come away with the feeling that it was a complete waste of time. Nothing new learned really, and nothing lost by never reading it. The art's lovely, of course, just a general feeling of "whatever" now that it's done.

Is issue four the last one? Aw, shame. I was hoping for at least five. But then I suppose that means a trade with #0 in and these four. My #4 is in the post.

Nothing new learned really, and nothing lost by never reading it. The art's lovely, of course, just a general feeling of "whatever" now that it's done. I quite enjoyed it for tickling my nostalgia so successfully. There was never really going to be any major repercussions that affect everything since it's intended to slot in and around events already told while fleshing out a few details along the way. Understandable since it spun out of the success of an issue zero that was only intended to be a one-off anniversary thing, really.

I felt less enjoyment with each successive issue, as I had hoped that despite not really being able to do anything earth-shattering, that there could have been something a bit more subversive or a few oblique teases to make it feel a bit bigger.
No complaints on the art though, stellar job.

Had a rereead of it, enjoyed it more now I've got it in my head as a tie in to the Marvel US book, rather than good old Marvel UK.

The 100 page one shot is out, reprinting US issue 1, Man of Iron and the 84 one-shot. Man of Iron looks like it uses the files from the UK Classics/Hachette - US issue 1 is their usual version.

I apparently have a copy waiting for me via FP, which I wasn't expecting (mostly because I wasn't paying attention and have the individual issues anyway), but I've paid for anyway because I didn't want to leave them out of pocket. Knowing it's got Man of Iron in it certainly makes me regret it less.

As a comic fan of a certain age, I do find it hard to resist 80 or 100 page giant issues.

Mine arrived today. Somehow I was expecting it to be squarebound. Really pleased to find it's saddle stitched. There's something about this collection I find really appealing.

Impulse-bought the TPB and read it cover to cover in hotel room. I had only previously read the first issue (issue #0?).
Enjoyed it all more than I thought I would. I had assumed it would be more like Regeneration One, which I disliked.
Enjoyed the art, and liked the writer's commentary at the back in which SF makes lots of references to the UK comics and shows an awareness of the continuity issues, which he tries to explain away in ways other than by saying "The UK stories don't happen" - which he thankfully never says. Annoying that Xaaron doesn't appear, and no mention of Trannis, but those could presumably be explained away too if someone wanted to.
Think it's earned a permanent place on my bookshelf.

I found it a most enjoyable series, like a 'what if?'. I've revisited it a couple of times.
