If this is a 35th anniversary thing, I'm hoping it's the first in a series of one shots having a crack at a particular year of the franchise. Flint Dille's Transformers 86. Bob Forward's Transformers 96. Err... Someone Armardarish's Transformers 03 and so on.

Could this be a Man of Iron tie in?

Furman @ TFN
This is a one off but Furman has pitched five other ideas to IDW for single issues that would integrate with the original comic. This issue is set directly before issue one and integrates Man of Iron properly into the US continuity.

When is it out? So 5-6 ideas... sounds like a suitable trade there.

A bit too ReGen for my tastes, very much not in Marvel UK continuity.
Lovely art from Guidi.

{Spoiler}That was my only real gripe with it. Having Ultra Magnus, Battletrap and Flywheels show up does take it out of the Marvel UK and into the Regenverse.
Art was top notch though and I did enjoy it for what it was and there's scope to revisit Punch/CounterPunch at certain times as well.
If we are looking at specifically a Marvel US tie-in. What happened to the Decepticon ship, and after all Shockwave went down from that afterwards, was Counter Punch onboard, and was there anyone else?

{Spoiler}True that. But Flywheels is in the Headmasters series in a blink and you miss it cameo, and Battletrap is in the end of Edge Of Exctinction, so it's not in US continuity.
Both Decepticon clones are in ReGen 1 too...
It doesn't fit anywhere if you think about it.
I still enjoyed it, but there's enough to pull me out of it.

Ultra Magnus is the only continuity error I noticed. Enjoyed it as a little tale that puts a different spin on things. Worked well for being a single part short story. As with ReGen I don't think there was a need to have later G1 Transformers filling up the background. The art style worked best when it was just generic robots.
