I gotta admit, transformers who turn into ramps is a very bold and risky move for Hasbro.
Since they introduced this price point with Titanmasters, they've had a hard time selling things in it that are actually cool.
Honestly I think their best bet is to create two or three more molds that serve as different connectors for standard retail, then repaint the hell out of them as direct-market exclusive multipacks.
That way hardcore micromaster, base, and ramp fans (like Phil) can just go apeshit with a couple multipacks.

Sadly I don't think the Rampmasters have upward facing 5mm pegs for you to use them as COMBAT compatible surfboards. The only one is on th robot, and you'd want the robot on the underside of a Surfmaster

Although if your Surfmaster was underneath in board mode you would technically be waterbaording them and that would not be a good thing.

Since they introduced this price point with Titanmasters, they've had a hard time selling things in it that are actually cool. I'm not sure I agree, I've loved and bought everything they've done at this price point. IMO Primemasters was only dodgy thanks to putting the Primes in the shells and not the original inner robots. Do the inner robots that turn into heads, and we'd have been good. The shells and robots that size were good and probably the best solution to a tricky problem with larger toys needing to meet modern articulation demands. Battlemasters was fab in Siege, my Titans Return Targetmasters love having the companion weapons their original forms did and most of the animal Battlemasters were fab.

That way hardcore micromaster, base, and ramp fans (like Phil) can just go apeshit with a couple multipacks. Bundle a couple of different colours in with an Iroworks, or whoever repaint. I have money for you Hasbro! I do think a different mould does need to do something functionally different, like be a cross piece ramp. I'm not sure you can sell the same straight piece of road four times in different colours at one per wave.

I gotta admit, transformers who turn into ramps is a very bold and risky move for Hasbro. Since they introduced this price point with Titanmasters, they've had a hard time selling things in it that are actually cool. This might be a new attempt at that size. If the current stuff is no use to collectors, then proper connector ramps have a genuine use several times over. The Battlemasters I will admit I'm only buying to 'complete' the Targetmaster Deluxes they're supposed to go with. I haven't bought the animal ones because they seem a waste of time like you say. But, like Phil, I'd buy a handful of ramps to make Micromaster cities with. As a toy that has a real purpose beyond being a shield. More than that, I'd buy track sets for these to build roads. The Nonnef Omega expansion sets are of huge interest to me, I'm just worried about price and availability. If someone put out a box with 30 road pieces, a few bridge bits and some junctions I'd be ALL over that straight away. Ramps are only a part of what's needed.

Angle. You see, angle. Like a ramp. Angle. this is a nightmare You think it's a nightmare? What about the poor Cybertronians who's lot in life is being a ramp?! I mean, with their advanced technologies, and massive cities and structures and whatnot, you would think the Transformers wouldn't really need individual members of their society to form ramps. You would think they would require sentient beings to form ramps for stuff. It's madness. A Transformer can transform into spaceships and bases and cities, for them to need an extra Transformer to form its ramps is is is lunacy! "Hi everyone, I'm Starsword, I transform into a starship!" "Hi, I'm Blastwave, I transform into an all-terrain weapons platform!" "I'm Tornado, I transform into a fixed-wing fighter-jet, and a high-speed ground interception vehicle!" "AND I AM GIGANTIA, AND I TRANSFORM INTO A MOBILE BATTLE-CITY." "....uh, I... I'm Flathead, and I transform into... a ramp. Just a ramp. I'm useless by myself 'cos I need something to attach to. Gigantia, do you need any ramps?" "I TRANSFORM INTO AN ENTIRE BATTLE-CITY, COMPLETE WITH FORCE-FIELD GENERATORS, INDEPENDENTLY TARGETING PARTICLE-BEAM CANONS, HIGH-EXPLOSIVE LASER-GUIDED CRUISE MISSILE LAUNCHERS, AND ANTI-MATTER POWERED DESTRUCTOR PULSATORS. NO I DON'T NEED ANY MORE RAMPS. THEY KINDA ALREADY THOUGHT OF THAT WHEN THEY BUILT ME."

Very good, very good.
But wrong.
As Phil points out, these are triple changers - robot, shield, ramp. What more exciting a role could a diddy transformer have than being worn on the arm of Optimus Prime or Prowl? Too small to be effective alone, but propelled into the heart of the Autobot vanguard to lead the charge into battle.

But at least in my area they've all been such bad shelf warmers, newer waves have difficulty finding their way out. Although nearly everything Siege seems to be DOA in my area.

Too small to be effective alone, but propelled into the heart of the Autobot vanguard to lead the charge into battle. Yeah but, he's a ramp. And and and his 'shield' mode is just the same as his ramp mode, so he's not a triple changer. It's just a different use of the one mode. It's like putting Prowl on his roof in car mode, spinning him round and calling him a merry-go-round. Three modes: robot, police car, merry-go-round. Still a shot job, be driven over, or used as a shield. Taking the hits for a much bigger 'bot. And anyway, if a Transformer that size can take the punishment of being a ramp and now apparently a shield- dear God, WHAT'S HE MADE OF?!?! He must be nigh on indestructible! Which begs the question- WHY AREN'T ALL TRANSFORMERS MADE OF THIS INCREDIBLE SUPER DURABLE SUBSTANCE?! The whole thing does not compute.
