Phil makes a good point. I think there will be enough places for Thundercracker and Skywarp because they're cheap repaints. One late on retail and one as an exclusive somewhere, but the remoulding needed for the Coneheads doesn't seem to have a home. Hascon and Walgreens are where the remoulds go, but Walgreens won't want three voyagers. They also feel too mainstream for Selects - I think we'll get Acid or Sunstorm there. But, the Coneheads are a noticeable hole in the current generations line.

You won't see Acid Storm.
Hasbro did something VERY clever I'm Siege: the only Tetrajet repaints were those seen as Tetrajets in the cartoon, hence no Coneheads.
My suspicion is the Earthmode repaints will be used accordingly, only those seen with an Earth mode in the cartoon.
Sunstorm is interesting, he's never been used as a Generatioms strike plane redeco by Hasbro, just the more outlandish designs like Armada Thrust, Animated and Cybertron Legends Starscream. Did the club do the Classics version?
In fact Hasbro's been Sunstorm wary full stop for a number of years.

They did do their own MP Sunstorm, different to the takara one. The Target Tetrajets would have been an easy sell because they're the cheapest repaints possible being one colour each, and screen accurate to boot. I can't see Select passing up the chance to do a jet but it won't be the Coneheads because of the remoulding. Seems daft to go for Redwing levels of obscurity when Sunstorm would be lovely.
Mind you we've been saying that about green Megatron.

Great point, Hufferlover! Yes! In the comics they never changed alt modes...

If they use the same premise as before, they could go for the off-purple extra jet used to fill backgrounds in the original pilot episodes. It would be quite cool to have a couple of those. But you'd want Skywarp and Thundercracker first.
Aw man, if we don't at least get the main three out of this mould I'll be gutted.

The club did Sunstorm. One of the last exclusives they did, and one of the last uses of Classics Starscream. He was in the rainmaker troopbuilder set.

I always thought FP should have made a troopbuilder fivepack with the classics mold, as a club exclusive. Though while the point would be to make it cheap as possible, they would have ended up price gouging us and charged like...$250 per set.

Thankfully, for my wallet, I find myself quite uninterested in that Starscream. But it's good that it seems to be what people were after.

My guess is that they wont be in a rush, but will keep the mould in use for a while.
Long enough to get all 6 main jets and at least one of Acidwing, Sunstorm and random purple guy/Slipstream.
If theres no room for a conehead in Earthrise then at least one of them in the last part of the trilogy. Once the reengineering is done and its just a case of new wings then Select would seem good bet for the other one or two.

That looks nothing like Ramjet! Ramjet has twin exhausts, no central tail fin and a vertical fin on each wing. Plus massive great cluster bombs under each wing and no missiles on the wing tips. Martin

A suggestion seen elsewhere, which I don't think looks too mad: Make Roller from Fasttrack. Both 6 wheeled vehicles.

We had a product listing for Smokescreen too. Does that imply this trilogy is going to see the same core characters through stages of their lives in each chapter? I could see that working if there was an actual narrative supporting the toyline, other ranges like RiD gave us several revised versions of the same character as their story changed through the seasons, and if you go back to Beast Wars loads of the characters got transmetal versions, or powerlinx in Unicron. But it would be a new thing for generations to do it explicitly.

But it would be a new thing for generations to do it explicitly. I would honestly be down for the same core cast being redone three times if each version dis something different than the other two. -Siege being truly alien vehicles, with robots that reflect that, while still being recognizable, ala The War Within. -Earthrise being the iconic updates everyone wants -and whatever follows being futuristic vehicles like actual Siege, original WfC, and '86. But "WfC" has a narrative and adherence to said narrative as clumbsy as "Prime Wars." Only worse, because the four Optimi actually did vastly different things to one another. Even when conforming to the same gimmick, like the two TR Optimi. One was a combiner. Two were headmasters but they were different sizes, looked vastly different, and one was a triplechanger. One had a super mode. All four look very very different, even if three use the same source material. In "WfC" of the three optimi we know about, two are nearly identicle and largely do the exact same thing. While the third looks very simular and fills the exact same niche as the other two, but it does have a super mode.

I mean Soundwave appears to be bringing something new to the table...
If that is even Soundwave, of course.
But aye, maybe in about twenty years' time, when kids who grew up on IDW and non-Sunbow products get jobs at Hasbro as designers maybe then we'll start to see some different things happen again...

I don't think they said they were starting it this soon.
But even still, it's gonna have to be uniform sizes, because that's both cheaper than special cutting each package for each figure, and I think a demand of the american retailers.
So while it looks like so much waisted package for Optimus, his trailer does take up most of it. Cliffjumper is being sold at the deluxe pricepoint because there's currently nowhere else to sell it. So he has to be into a package designed to fit the largest figures in that range. (Also I think more people would be complaining about him being a $22 legend, were he in a smaller package, than are currently complaining about the waisted space)
