I have to admit to feeling a bit winded by these reveals. Aside from Ironworks, which is a great idea. More of those definitely, and we have the right Micromaster to go with the base too in the ten pack don't we? Beautiful.
But the others. Grapple and Prime look amazing, they're exactly the toys they should be. But what the hell was the point of Siege if they are going to ditch that concept so fast? I haven't even bought Siege Thundercracker yet, but now I know I don't need to because this time next year we'll inevitably have Earth mode jets from the rumoured new Starscream. Siege Prime, binned. All the Diaclone cars that we've just had that won't get redone and now won't look right with the new look that doesn't have Cybertron modes/battle damage/hyper detailing. So we've got a handful of figures that make a small pre-Earth collection and now we're moving on.
I've bought a lot recently and have just reached that point where I'm feeling the need to get spending back under control again, which is my problem, not Hasbro's, but to think things like that sixty quid Skywarp set are now already surplus to requirements make me feel a bit sick. It's just too quick. This should be part 3 at the earliest. I know I don't have to buy a new Prime, but come on, in terms of the perfect CHUG collection that's ten times better than the Siege one. I suppose I feel like I've been stitched up by Hasbro. I'm glad Toph managed to bag the Rainmakers for me, those characters are right as Tetrajets so they're correct as they are. Such a shame Siege wasn't more about characters like that to expand the back story instead of giving us a load of characters we're getting again twelve months later.

I understand your concerns. I think this is what I was rambling about recently. You get within spitting distance of a good homogeneous collection, and BOOM! Situation changes. AND IT STARTS ALL OVER AGAIN. Stitched up by Hasbro is right. But it's nothing new.

Oh I'm definitely in, these are essential figures, I'm just resenting Hasbro a bit for doing this now because it means binning toys I've barely opened. I don't need multiple figures for CHUG characters.
It's interesting how this furthers the transition in the Leader scale from being 'big robots' to 'smaller robots with armour to make them bigger', to 'smaller robots with separate accessories'. Leader now isn't a height, it's a 'volume in the box' scale.

Yeah some of the choices now feel weird. Like why not do cybertronian Wheeljack and Bumblebee and Jazz. All 3 have existing cybertronian designs and already have recent and or good traditional versions. As everyone said why not go full on cybertronian with Prime and Megatron. Why did they not make a proper lamp post mode for Soundwave? Its not like hes got a proper alt mode. Making hte arms fold in lamp post style would have made no difference to space thing mode.

Gonna be the same for the jets. And will there be another Megatron I wonder.
I wonder if this is part of the reason why we've been deluged with exclusives this year, knocking out as many figures from these moulds as possible before changing the style. If I was feeling cynical I'd also say that's why we got a wave five of oddments that don't feel like they fit the first four waves - padding to extend the shelf life of toys now not needed. The cel shaded prime is a case in point - not out yet here but now totally redundant.

Before this, I was just about positive that the next Megatron would be G2. We are way past overdue for a proper G2 Megatron update, and the last three megatrons have been silver tanks with '84 Megatron robot mode. And two of those got g2 repaints, but they bent over backwards to avoid the color that people actually want.
So I thought that all pointed to the next Megatron being an actual full on proper G2 update.
But now with four 84 Optimus updates in a row (potp, siege, star convoy, earthrise) in like...two years (plus new MP, cyberverse, movie), of course the next megatron will be a silver tank with an 84 robot mode.
I'll stop complaining now. I know I've been more negative than I should be, but this just comes right off on somethibg that's been really eating me for a while and actually culminated literally just before this reveal.

I get where you're coming from the number of Primes since CW Prime came out just under 5 years ago is frankly mind boggling.
CW CW Battlecore (couldnt even call it magnus or thunderclash) TR PMOP TR triplechanger TR G2 POTP leader POTP Nemesis Seige voyager Cel shaded Seige leader Star Convoy
TFwiki also adds to the G1 Prime list 3 cyberverse toys Year of the goat Year of the Rooster MP 10 30th annivasary version (Year of the Horse just misses the cut, coming out earlier in 2014) At least 1 use of the classic mould since 2014 probably 2 MP 44
Its maybe not the quantity, but that 1. This is just the G1 Prime we are talking about. Movie, Prime/RID and whatever else have had there own Primes over this period
2. Prior to this I think we'd gone 8 years since the last generations Prime bigger than a deluxe.
3. This doesnt include what Takara have been doing.

Okay so, if this is Earth, then "part three" needs to be G2 or Beast Wars. Nope. Part Three will be the movie. To tie in with the release of Unicron. Then reset back to '84 again! (That's my prediction, anyway.)

Part of me wonders if this sudden shift back to Earth is Habro overreacting to the negative response that the 'Cybertronian' modes got.
They tried to go alien, but not too alien so things wouldn't look too out of place with what came before (possibly a dumb move) and then everyone complained that these toys were barely Cybertronian. So they dumped that idea and went back to straight updates and tried to pass it off as the plan all along.
Anyway, War For Cybertron: Phase Three: Nebulos anyone?

Whilst Ironworks is a great concept, I feel the sacrifices made in making these able to be a base, alternate base, a robot and weaponiser parts will detract from what they should be - a base with cool play features. I mean, it's a cool concept, but sometimes simpler things executed well are better.

I quite like its extreme modularity - it looks like if you were to get four of them it wouldn't have to look like four Ironworks stuck together, you could make a bigger Ironworks-esque base. Maybe.
I find it impressive that they got a nice looking robot mode out of that as well!

If you can mix and match parts from the different sets (beyond just duplicates of the same set) then you may have something, I just don't see it being executed well.

That will be why Unicron is in 2021! WFC III will be running then. 1986 = 2021. As for cycling back to 84, we are reaching a point when much of the Fandom won't have been born then so I do wonder how long that button can be pressed for the collector market. -Ralph

I feel that button will be pressed as long as Warden is in charge. He an admitted hardline gewunner, actively hates beast wars, and doesn't think much of anything else non-g1. He does understand that there are non-g1 fans in the audience, but so far he only throws us bones when they can be wrapped in a G1 frame (siege ultra magnus being 90% g1 homage, galaxy optimus being about 50% g1)
So I fear that as long as he's in charge, every corner of the franchise will exist in a perpetual state stuck between 1984 and 1991.

(That's my prediction, anyway.) Yep. User 3 predicted a similar thing in the Unicron thread. It's obvious now. This is what they're going to do. Siege/Cybertrony had so much potential. But now, it's OVER. We'll get the same old same old again in Earthrise (yes I'm sure there will be some excellent figures), and then they Movie it all up in WFC3. At least Movieing it up will save me money!

Having seen the Optimus and Grapple, I'm exited about the Starscream that this IS going to be the decent voyager Starscream we've been wanting. Hoist is worrying me a bit. A favourite character but I worry that, like last time, they won't be able to squeeze his towing frame in. Bolded the toys on the listings we've not seen yet. Looking at the WFC-E numbers we saw the other day, we know there's one more Battlemaster - is it the Vanguard we saw a card of a few weeks back.bold The rest is pretty easy to see as the numbers appear to go up by class size. Already confirmed numbers in bold WFC-E1 E7146 Soundbarrier/???? WFC-E2 E7146 Soundbarrier/????
WFC-E3 E7149 Hot Rod Patrol: Daddy-O & Trip Up WFC-E4 presumably E7150 Micormaster Military Patrol
WFC-E5 one of E7155 Cliffjumper, E7156 Wheeljack or E7154 Hoist WFC-E6 one of E7155 Cliffjumper, E7156 Wheeljack or E7154 Hoist WFC-E7 one of E7155 Cliffjumper, E7156 Wheeljack or E7154 Hoist WFC-E8 E7157 Ironworks
WFC-E9 presumably Voyager Starscream Earth WFC-E10 E7164 Grapple
WFC-E11 E7166 Optimus Prime with Trailer Is there another Leader? A commander early doors?

The more I look, the more I really do think they basically upscaled the classics' engineering, with a few updates. It looks like the head is hidden by the nosecone. Looks like the chest folds down for the cockpit section to fold into the same way, and the arms fold up and store inside. Legs look like they collapse at least similarly.
Wings have added hinges to angle back, and looks like the feet have added complexity.
