Okay, so problem not solved. The lion face rotates. You can see the anime one stuffed up under the mane.
I really hope that there's a toy accurate retool announced before this one comes out.

Yep. Whilst this is very nice and unexpected, I'm still hoping that they'll do, if not a remold, at the very least a toy-colours-accurate release (as they've done with so many others). I like the mold, I really do, but the colours are just so flat. So yes, better colours, and I'm in.
On the plus side, at least this reveal didn't turn out to be a V3 MP see- attack plane mold. Because no. No. Please no.

I was about to say I'd love to see a new jet mould, but then realised these days that would be at least £180 if not more to buy. x3 or even x6 and... No. Can't do it. I'll keep what I've got or go Maketoys.
I think bar trying to complete the Diaclone cars, I might be done with Takara for MPs. They've just gone in a direction that doesn't appeal anymore. I like Sunbow, but that seems to mean ridiculous backpacks and even more ridiculous prices.

A toy version of Lio Convoy might just fit better. Not a huge fan of Sekker mp v1&2 but dont fancy buying any of them in v3 considering the costs. Aaction Master Thunder aside. Obviously. |

If I come across Ironhide and Inferno very cheap them too. If Beast Wars wasn't so expensive I'd happily be buying those though. |

A toy accurate lion face, and lion mane, add a fur print similar to primal and cheetor, and darken that blue, make the red metallic flake, and he would actually fit in really well. He'd even look as though he were a mainframe model.

This is the first MP I've been tempted by in a couple of years, looks lovely, even with the plain cartoon styling. Almost certainly can't afford it of course.

Even from that 'preferred' angle for the alt mode, the lion looks like a hot mess of flappy panels that don't quite fit.
And Takara... Stop faking stuff. It's better to have a compromised look that doesn't 100% match cartoon accuracy in robot mode than have fake parts. I want to feel like my Masterpiece figures are how the Transformer would actually function in real life and it makes no sense that Lio-Convoy would have a fake lion face for his shoulder. Same goes for Black Arachnia's spider head crotch.
That said, I do like it.
I wonder if they're doing a BWII Galvatron? Although, with the relative size to Lio-Convoy in show, it'd be huge.

Ya know, it struck me a big problem with this-
When it comes to BWII and BWN, Takara has a tendency to ignore everyone except the Convoys.
If they go further into these shows, it's likely they will only do Big Convoy. Maaaaaybe Galvatron or Megastorm.
So we would have one or two one-offs in this ultra anime style that don't fit in anywhere. It's highly unlikely Lio will have an MP Apache, Bighorn, or Tazmania Kid to go with him.
He'll look off with the highly Mainframe accurate BW MPs, he won't fit in at all with the Sunbow G1 MPs, and definitely not with the movie MPs.
It's kinda one thing to start a new style if you're going to support it. But like I said, they don't support BWII/Neo beyond a very select few characters. So this kinda feels a bit like a dick move.
Double dick move if we actually DO end up with an MP B'Boom while we're still waiting for them to complete the cast of the BW pilot. And kinda hilarious.

No way the figure in the pic would be some kind of regional/store exclusive extra. It's too many parts to warrant it when you compare it to the previous items of this ilk, such as Wheeljack's med-kit, collectors coins and those wee little figures.
