If they don't, this will struggle. There will undoubtedly be a big influx of purchasers, but they need all the help they can get. The Hasbro UK thing at least shows they're looking for more avenues, but TFE said they'd had about 200 orders at the point they appeared to be the only viable avenue to get the figure here. What can Kapow add to that?

bet they find some miracululous orders from somewhere, there is no way theyll let this figure fail it would cost them too much face and damaging PR

I think you're right, but it's also true (as pointed out on RFC) that Hasbro is a public company and has to report its accounts. They can't fudge the orders too much, or possibly at all, because the numbers wouldn't add up and that would be public knowledge.

Hmm. 43 comments so far on Kapow's FB post announcing the pre-order is open and not one is positive. Bar a few questions about refunds if it fails, they're all 'thanks, but no thanks'. Is that representative? Or are all the buyers keeping quiet?

I know of two folks on my FB that are umm-ing over it now Kapow have it, and as far as I know they aren't on any forums, either. The word is getting out, but it's not a 'MUST BUY' for anyone new yet it seems.

What can Kapow add to that? Which is probably why they are so fed up/annoyed with TFE. In the context of Kapow spending most of this year trying to improve UK distribution, 200 people willing to lay out £600 for Unicron will now be missing from the UK total showing instead as Asia/chinese/North American sales.

I mean, Hasbro did leave it til 2 weeks to go to sort out a deal with Kapow, they have noone to blame there but themselves!

I know I'm a TFE advocate and tend to use them before other companies, but objectively I don't think Kapow have any right to be annoyed with them when there was absolutely no indication last month that there would be an 'official' UK outlet. I'm still considering buying Unicron, as has been the case right from the word go, and would probably go with Kapow if I did simply because it feels like a safer route to tie up £600 over two years.
If Hasbro UK had got their arse in gear from the start and a preorder through them had gone up in July then TFE probably wouldn't have bothered pursuing their's. But Kapow implying that TFE won't be able to fulfil their orders is nasty behaviour.
If you think about it, this is no different to the days when Kapow sold us import Generations stock when the line was a TRU exclusive in this country. It didn't bother them then that their sales of US toys were denting UK retail sales, potentially causing TRU/Hasbro to consider the market here too small to be worth stocking everything.

Oh yeah I totally get that. End of the day Hasbro have completely screwed this up. Whether TFE were acting out of legit good will or clever PR they made Unicron available to the UK within the original crowdfunding window, Hasbro didn't.
But I can completely see why Kapow (and possibly Hasbro UK) would be frustrated if they are trying to get Hasbro (US or worldwide etc) to take the UK market seriously.
Especially if Kapow gave TFE warning that they would get an agreement done - though that would have meant Hasbro and Kapow knowing the window would be extended by over a month weeks before that actually happened.

For me, that's the key part. Hasbro fluffed this up. In the original pre-order window, the UK/EU weren't given the option to buy AT ALL. And despite being given a six week extension, they've not bothered to get it organised until this late in the game. That's all on Hasbro. TFE were just trying to serve the fanbase and neither Kapow nor Hasbro have any right to be sniffy over that.
If Hasbro had stuck to their guns, this would be over and done with now, and we'd all be getting on with our lives.

Not me. I have a plan to do it, but I'm not sure I want to. It would look fantastic, but I can see it being a chore to transform and too big to put anywhere.
I like themed display groups, and the movie characters are all bolloxed at the moment. Stick PotP Rodimus with Siege Magnus and TR Galvatron and it just doesn't work.

The longer this goes on the more I wish they were releasing one of the G1 Unicrons they have prototypes of.
Imagine the G1 box it would come in. Just imagine.
