Yeah, I'm hoping the crowdfunding moves to more interesting things once they've got people used to the idea. Do I want to pay £600 for this Unicron? Not really, I might have been tempted if the colours were right, but yellow and blue Unicron isn't for me. However, I'd drop £600 on G1 Unicron. How about an Artfire reissue? Crowdfund that, $200 or something for a small run, better than the £1k+ for a 2nd hand one. |

That's an interesting point, actually. Maybe crowdfunding to make moulds for reissues is an idea for toys such as Mirage, Dinobots etc. Toys that have never been re-released as the moulds are long gone.

I watched some transformation videos of it for the first time this morning.
He's got some really crappy looking shell-forming going on. I'm actually drifting towards the 'I don't like this Figure' line of thinking. Don't get me wrong, it still looks like an amazing figure. But, there's some really rubbish looking aspects to this.

I mean, they just went this big, and this expensive purely for bragging rights.
Unicron could be any size they wanted (unlike a playset/vehicle for action figures), as Unicron would never scale with any other toy. He wouldn't be any worse off at titan, or commander size.
Basically, there's no reason on earth we couldn't have had a mass released Titan Unicron instead of PotP Predaking.
And honestly, I think this is a terrible use of the kickstarter concept.
