Who honestly thought about getting HasLab Unicron? Oh of course, as I'm sure I mentioned upthread. I mean, it's Unicron, and the planet mode is lovely. When Target: 2006 first came out I was obsessed with that planet design, and even made my own Unicron planet to hang from the ceiling of my bedroom. I was always disappointed with the Armada Unicron's planet mode because it's just not round enough (although I appreciate the engineering issues there), so this was certainly very attractive. But ultimately it came down to the cost, and whether or not I could justify it. Do I spend more than £600 on toys a year? Absolutely. On one toy? Not before. That's a lot of money. So I didn't, because: a) I'll need that money for other, important things. Like my wife's visa renewal next year. And cool as Unicron looks, she looks better and has greater play value. And also I already burned a little too much money that I'd had put aside for my long-hoped-for house extension at TFNation - I didn't want to burn more. So lots of real-world expense there. b) If I did get it I'd have made myself not buy other toys to balance it out. And really, I'd have more fun with more, smaller toys than I would with this one big one. Also, as far as other large TFs go, he doesn't really look that much fun. He doesn't have an interactive base mode, and they're great. I use my city-bots as backdrops for a lot of photos I take, and there's no way I could practically use Unicron. He just doesn't have any "wow" value aside from the size. Ultimately, at the end of the day, I find myself not too disappointed to have missed out. So I'm fairly sure I made the right decision. But I was certainly tempted.

Part of me is hoping it will be possible to remove all the panel and the wings and assemble them as a stand alone planet shell. Which would turn it in to an actionmaster pretender Unicron.

I was tempted, but more in a 'I don't want to miss out' way rather than 'I want this' if that makes sense. I'd probably have been more tempted if I didn't already have Fort Max. I don't really get on with him and he taught me that huge transformers are not for me! this was exactly my thoughts! i want it but only so i dont miss out, my massive trypticon and fort max just get in the way

Never even considered it! If I did have that kind of money free for spending on Transformers there are dozens of other toys I would buy first.

Prime would fly right into his maw and blown him apart, in the ULTIMATE Transformers story!!!
And then, with his dying words, leave Prowl in charge and tell Grimlock to obey his every word and ALL would be well.

That looks less like a base and more like Hannibal Lector was using Unicron to recreating the end scene of Silence of the Lambs

That's a very valid point.
Nice to see that they were thinking of giving it a base mode, but a shame they didn't work this concept further. I guess they don't think of "true collectors" as being the sort of people that play with base modes...

No, his purpose is to track the Constructions through space to Earth then exact revenge upon them! Hmmm... www.ntfa.net/universe/english/index.php?act=view&char=Omega_SupremeNope, don't think he ever crossed paths with the Constructicons in the comics. Both he and they were built on Earth and never came anywhere near each other. Sorry! Martin

There is no ark to protect. Therefore it must default to the Constructicons.
However, were Hasbro to produce an Ark playset, then it supercedes therubbish cartoon reasoning.
