Shame it doesn't have the extra gubbins in the manual that Lego puts on its instructions for their high end stuff that comes from their fan channel site thingy, ie interviews with the designers, history of the object being built, etc. -Ralph

He looks amazing from the front. But from the back..? That's one ugly backpack. If only they made the planet shell into some kind of stylised cape. This isn't a Studio Series 86 toy, so movie accuracy is irrelevant. I think that given the stated attempt was to do a screen accurate Unicron they would have struggled to raise the funding if it had looked significantly different. -Ralph

They also tried turning the planetary crust into a cape with Armada Unicron, and I recall a lot of complaints about that.

They should have just made it all removable. Parts forming in the extreme, but a better robot mode for display-play.

The more I see of Unicron, the less impressed I am. Does he need the stand to stay upright in robot mode as well?

We can all complain about it as much as we like, but we all know we'd love to have the budget and space for it as the centre point of our collection display.

I... Errr.... I'm not sure.
If money was no object, probably.
But he's not as good as I'd like him to be for that money. All the unsightly kibble. He's just not worth it (judging by the pictures anyway).

I thought about it a lot at the time and worked out how to do it, but concluded I don't want one. It looks way too awkward, the shell on the back and the rest stacked on the ankles look terrible. It just feels to me that without the stand it'll end up constantly in a crumpled heap. If I wanted a big Unicron, and I don't feel the compulsion to, I'd go Studio Cell. It's so much cleaner and looks to me like it would work well with the SS86 figures in front of it. Haslab Unicron is too big for that.

Really puts the size in to perspective, having him behind Metroplex!

Indeed. He's not just taller, he really is significantly more massive. Metro may be taller than Omega there, but he's not bigger than Omega.
I see pictures and start feeling regret that I passed. But seeing him with the titans (who are already too big for my taste) kills that regret immediately.

I think it looks nice but I literally would not have anywhere to put it at that size!

I may very well end up removing the shell. The robot mode looks great without it. And Ive always had the thought of replacing the rings with 3d printed ones with LEDs in so no need to choose which mode gets the rings.

The more I see it them more Im convinced the reason they chose this design is so that in the future they can release a scaled down version as a Titan or commander class.
