One could speculate the fact that online stores are now expecting to be carrying it shows that there is no way this toy is not getting made. Expect the numbers to magically jump above 8K nearer The Time.

Yes, it seems a bit fishy. It's just odd because the sail barge was made to order wasn't it? It's not like Hasbro are going to make 8000 of these and are just getting prepaid pre-orders so they don't get caught out. The whole thing just seems odd.
We really need a UK seller to get in on this preorder lark. It'll still cost silly money, but it would be good to see what a genuine cost for this here would be. These $775 pre-orders have the free local postage and a markup included. What would the equivalent be here...

I think that they have already invested a tonne of money on developement means its unlikely not to be made. I dont think BBTS and TFSource having them available is really a factor. $100 (after domestic postage and related costs) isnt a bad return in 15-18 months on a $600 investment. As long as less than 25% cancel they won be out of pocket (and will have some Unicrons on hand) so I can see why they think it worth the effort. And despite the cost it does at least offer a way for customers outside North America to order one without having to have friends who live there. Thats better than nothing. Its also not a bad option for people in the States who cant cover $600 in the next month, but can can get the deposit together an then can save $10 a week between now and release. Not exactly a win win, but not terrible either. It would be nice to get some info about the Takara Mall release to see how that might compare cost wise. Or for Hasbro UK or someone to let us know what if any chance there is a of it being made directly available here (or imported by Kapow or whoever) before people start plonkiing down non refundable deposits elesewhere. |
