If it's a Mall exclusive I wonder what that means for numbers - that they're taking pre-orders that count toward the 8000? Or is this totally separate? And if it's a Mall exclusive, we get those here through our import shops. What chance this comes to Kapow?

According to their Facebook, depends on size, weight and unit cost

So weird, is it like the Max whereby a certain number of pre-orders have to be met? How can the mall offer a toy that may not actually exist, and if they do get it going but the Haslab one fails... Wha? I don't get it.

It doesn't make sense, logically they would add the total of orders together to make the necessary 8k? On the other hand, the toy and moulding looks like they exist so.. it's coming home!

TFSExpress have also indicated they would try to get this if TTMall stock it.

His back does look a bit goofy.

I don't actually think the back looks all that bad. I mean, sure, there is kibble there, but with something that turns from a sphere into a humanoid shape there's always going to have to be some sort of compromise. And really, this is a lot better than Armada Unicron, who uses part of the sphere as wings, and who... doesn't actually turn into a sphere because it's too hard, so there's a weird blocky bit on his southern hemisphere (which is accurately rendered in the cartoon - well done guys, that was very much not the point). And it's certainly nowhere near as bad as Neo Unicron. If you look at the legs, too, you can see there's a lot collapsed into them, too - so this is certainly better engineered than being just another shellformer. I really don't have a problem with it. At least in regards to how it transforms. But, gods, that planet mode. I need it... I wonder if the price will come down at some point. I'm holding out for it turning up for fifty quid in Home Bargains.

Benson Yee @bwtf_Ben 34s35 seconds ago Moving on to discuss the HasLab Unicron project. Playing a quick video to introduce Unicron. Video features John and Ran. Video shows footage from the 1986 movie. Then moves on to the prototype. (This video is on the HasLab page). HasLab's Unicron page: hasbropulse.com/products/transformers-war-for-cybertron-unicron … Flint Dille: "This is a dream." It never occurred to him that Unicron would be made. Ben asking Flint Dille to discuss the creation of Unicron for the movie. Dille: Unicron was played by Orson Welles. It was his last role. Dille: He was there to see Welles record. He was great. Slideshow is now going through the development process for Unicron. Ran providing translations: The beginning was the sketch. Photo shows a giant piece of paper with a Unicron drawing on it. Drew an initial sketch and then blew it up 3x. Now showing photo of initial sizing (may be foamcore). Challenge was transforming something into a sphere. In a sphere there are less places to hide robot parts. A vehicle to robot is much easier. Development was expensive (about 10K Yen for the initial concepts). Now showing slide with the Unicron grey model with several pieces separated from the figure. There are about 12 mandibles on Unicron for his maw. Each has its own gear to move it.

It still looks nice. But it still needs more play features to justify that cost. (For me, anyway. I'm sure Hasbro's accountants are fine with it.)

Well if the development was "expensive" then I will eat my hat if this doesn't come out, no matter the 'crowdsourcing' result.

I have noticed that a lot of (online) chatter with adult fans about toys (especially the more expensive ones) place importance on looks and articulation over play features. So I can see why Hasbro go for those aspects for a figure aimed at that demographic. -Ralph
