Earthrise Prime is the right one, Siege Prime is the one we should be getting angry about because it's redundant. And it was shite all along. Cybertron mode Transformers are fine, but the only figures who actually had that were the jets. With hindsight we can see that Siege was a con job all round. Certainly for the more well known names |

How can Siege Prime be "shite" if Earthrise Prime is essentially the same figure? I would argue that makes the new one redundant when the original version is still on sale.
As an aside, the two Earthrise Primes had already sold when I popped into FPM today!

Now I think about it, Siege wasn't a con. The Battlemasters were much needed additions for the Targetmasters released previously, even if we didn't get enough of them, and of course the Micromasters and Weaponisers are top. Reflector was also great.
It's just the big names really, as Phil says. Prime looked great but the Earthrise one gives him a proper hatless truck mode and none of the kibble on his arms and back. They weren't really Cybertron modes, more futuristic earth modes with human sized cabins. It would have been a great line had it not been superseded in many cases so quickly.

Too much non Optimus kibble in robot mode, the stuff hanging under the arms and the backpack, which forms the lightbox thing on the cab's roof. It was close, very close, but the bits they mucked about with ruined it for me. Which is partially why I didn' buy the cell shaded version. This one does cab and robot a lot better and has combat deck trailer which we've been begging for since.... 2006? As you'll be able to see, I've carried out a threadacectmy and created a specialist Earthrise Leader Op thread. |

My one and ONLY complaint is lack of yellow eyes. The blue is just completely swallowed by the blue helmet, they're so deep set and they chose such a dark color.

Oh my god his transformation is soooo clever. It's been years since we had one this imaginative! AND it's intuitive!
The weird proportions that look off in photos aren't really obvious in hand.
I will take this guy in any colorscheme they wish to give him but I demand a G2 redeco tomorrow!

But ER Optimus is a full on toy. he is loads of fun to play with. I've transformed him several times because his transformation is that clever, and that fun. |
