I know, I know. I'm hoping for Metroplex to be honest. I'd say he doesn't fit with the Kingdom theme, but hey, Scorponok doesn't really go with the Earthrise theme either.

In hindsight I am really glad they didn't hold off on Titan Scorponok until Kingdom to fit the beast theme, because wow three letdowns in one go!
It'd be the wrong Scorponok (you know they wouldn't do two Scorponoks who are different characters in the same year), in the wrong size.

I struggle with the idea of BW updates. Several so far have been poor (BWX, Universe2) or Fragile (T30) The only one I really like was POTP OpOp and that I had some issues with. I've come round to the BWX leaders over time though. The RM versions were nice but essentially the originals downsized.
Then there's that the originals are just so good....
I'll need to see the new ones to be sure. But I can see Tigatron and Airazor both of whom would be hard to resist even if they were poo.

The only BW update I have is T30 Rhinox and he's not bad. I missed the boat on Throne of the Primes.

It's humorous that so many people on tfw are whining about how after 13 solid years of non-stop G1 updates (which is double the length of actual g1), that "g1 is over forever!" because half of one year's toys will be dedicated to non-g1, while G1 still continues across three seperate lines, including the line they're moaning about.

G1 remakes haven't stopped. As Toph points out they continue: Generations, Cyberverse, Masterpiece, Selects, Tomy Takara Mall, etc.
Heck, more G1 remake toys have been leaked this very day!

I can't quite imagine feeling that angry / entitled about toys. The closest I get to feeling angry in this hobby is when there's something like those MP Arcee photos going on.

How are they going to tie this up in the narrative they're creating? In Earthrise we have modern Earth vehicle modes, yet originally BW was set far in the past. If Netflix are weaving an ongoing story through the three parts of the trilogy its going to need a different origin for the beasts.
Which I suppose might get over the scale problem given the BW characters are supposed to be tiny compared to the G1s.

Maybe they'll go the IDW route and repurpose the Beast-era characters to be the minions of Unicron, or something? Or maybe they just couldn't be bothered thinking it through any further, and actually didn't have as good a game plan as they were claiming they did. (See also: PottoP.) Anyway, need I say I am excited by this? Given my previous comments about Transformers being mostly all G1, all the time, probably not. But I am excited by this. On the inside. On the outside I am more looking forward to maybe sleeping more than three hours at a go one day in the future... |
