These series look good but I can and will wait for them to become available on shiny disc. Very determined not to give any money or support to streaming services that undermine the cinema industry by releasing feature films before or at the same time as their theatrical release.

Sorry - obvious to those who look at the Recent Posts page, but not at all obvious to anyone who goes via the subject boards, since the destination thread doesn't get bumped to the front when you move new posts to it for some reason. Martin

I am intriqued by Wandavision. It looks downright odd, and potentially could have a lot of good psychological horror of the "is my world even real, how do I know which one is real" kind. Which is very much my kind of thing.

Enjoyed. Second episode was stronger than the first. Not sure if thats because it was better or just due to less appriciation of 50s sitcoms to 60s.
Either way i laughed more during episode two.

Loved this, not just because it's Marvel but because if the classic sitcom style. Enjoyng it plainly for that and have the 'what is actually happening' reveals to look forward to later. I found the humour genrally funny and it's actually very respectful to the genre rather than poking fun at it. The audience laughter in episode one was a nice thing to hear at the moment too.

I really enjoyed it. Right up my ally. You know it will evolve as it goes on. I’m laughing at the thought of MCU fans watching and it not being the usual smash bang action.

I watched the first ep, quite enjoyed it. I've got no idea where this is going or what is about, so the fact the truth is still hidden and they carried the sitcom pretence right through the episode was quite intriguing.

End of Ep2... What's interesting is the level of control Wanda seems to have, shown at the end of both eps in the stop it/vision not acting until Wanda instructed and the rewind. It did make me want to go and watch Bewitched, as it induced some strange comfort in nostalgia.

Normally the question been asked of the MCU is oh but is it accessible to people who havent watched all 20+ previous movies? With Wandavision thats possibly a more legit question than with any of the movies bar maybe Endgame.
But an even bigger question for me is how much of the setting is going to be to alien and off putting to many fans?
Its a bit like Tonk Hanks Mr Rogers film.
They might be becoming less often shown in the US (I dont know) but at least till recently sitcoms from right back in the 50s were still pretty commonly shown. People are generally aware of their sitcom history.
But how aware of US sitcoms are people outside the US. Especially the younger target audience. I dont have clear memories of 50s sitcoms being shown in the UK very often. I have slightly clearer memories of 60s shows being shown in the summer holidays, but not for a couple of decades.
70s show.. only Happy Days jumps out and again, when was the last time that was shown over here? Also that was already reusing the 50s sitcom setting, I cant think of a contempory 70s surbuban sitcom that was big or even shown over here.
The only 80s sitcom I still see semi regularly is Cheers, but isnt the right setting for Wandavision. Maybe Mork and Mindy.
Even in to the late 80s and 90s there arent that many that made an impact. Rosanne and Home Improvements.
I just wonder how many people under 25 outside the US will have a decent grasp of Wandavisions setting. Or maybe Im over thinking it and it doesnt matter at all.

God I do hope we go full Mork and Mindy in a mid-season episode. But an even bigger question for me is how much of the setting is going to be to alien and off putting to many fans? Who cares! You can't always just tell stories to please the masses (I'll see you to follow this up in the BvS:DoJ thread ) But I'm sure Kevin Fiege knows what he's doing at this point and as the questions are revealed, more and more people who stopped watching will be encouraged to return to the show by those who stuck with it.

I will not be returning. 5 mins was enough for me. Though to be honest, a few seconds was enough. 5 mins was pushing it.

In the short term no one should, its a one off, if someone doesnt like it they can move on to the next thing. But on the other hand its the first go at tv and it seems like its going to be fairly different from most of the other shows coming after it. It would be disappointing if it was viewed as a failure not because it was bad, but just that too many of the target audience didnt get it.

Well I feel they've leaned into so hard that they're more than expecting any sort of viewer disengagement.

Seems to be of Wanda's creation and Vision is unaware. Which explains why Wanda is leaning a bit heavier into each decade's theme character wise, whilst Vision seems more like himself, just following the lead of others.
