I nearly bought the Skullcruncher today to give to TR Krok. Not sure why I didn't. You have a chance to redeem yourself. -Ralph

Because Hasbro, like a lot of toy companies still operate on the principle that some toys are for boys and some toys are for girls - very much a traditional gender roles split. So Transformers, being "war" toys, are in their institutional minds intended for boys and so are a "boys toy". Similar to the logic behind them leaving out Jem when But that doesn't address why it's called a 'boys' assortment'. If there was a 'girls' assortment' then them calling out the gender makes sense (despite them even having gender assigned toys a bit odd in this day and age). I guess you could argue given that retail stores order based on assortment name and they likely still organise goods on the shop floor by perceived gender suitability it's an indicator for them.

It is a rare kids toy company that works on the basis that "any gender can enjoy our toys", and Hasbro most definitely are not one of them, and I don't think Tomy are either. One of the few I can think of is the LEGO Group. Karl Lego actually does, too. They have lines like Lego Friends and Lego Elves that are pastels and with differently shaped Minifigures. But they do this in response to parents enforcement of gender roles. They thought Legos were for everyone, and they thought they marketed them as such. Then they found out parents weren't allowing their daughters to play with legos because "legos are for boys." So they created Lego Friends, with pastels and new figures, specifically to get those asshole parents to let their little girls play with legos, too.

...and Lego Friends has proven to be a huge success. Other original Lego themes have come and gone but Friends is very popular.
I like the Friends sets (lovely colours) but not the minidolls. But hey, they sell, so what do I know?

They’re pretend representations of characters that people are posing with, make-believing that they’re real. They fit my definition of toy.

By that definition, posters, cardboard cut-outs and statues are toys. Also, buildings. Nope. Flawed argument. Except for cardboard cutouts to play with, fake background posters, waxworks, gaming miniatures, etc. They can of course be considered toys. The main thing you do with them is make-believe they’re real, which is what most people are doing now with the Transformers on Leicester Square. Unlike on Trafalgar Square, where not many tourists choose to imagine Lord Nelson is real. Or think they are only imagining the National Gallery to be a real building. Martin

Do they transform though? Is that relevant? I imagine Optimus Prime drove to Leicester Square in truck mode, though. Why wouldn’t he? Martin

But- Wha- How- Why- Why does this exist? What is it? And how can this be the "Takara Tomy" version IF IT WASN'T TEASED AS A FUCKING SILHOUETTE FIRST?!?
But also, what is this? Is this to be the Studio Series release? Is it Voyager scaled? It's clearly not a Masterpiece because it's too cheap and has 5mm ports on it, which True Collectables don't have. This is very odd. And despite the more accurate detail and slightly more colour I don't know if I prefer this over the main line RotB Primal...

The missiles have that ball joint in the middle though; they'll be the push and pop type, not spring loaded. Still better than anything we get now though.

We've moaned enough that figures don't have action features such as firing missiles anymore. It is our DUTY to buy. If Hasbro wants to sell it to the UK.
