WORDPLAY NAMES! Too good for Masters of the Universe.
Man-E-Faces is a man of many faces! Scare Glow makes a good scarecrow! Trap Jaw's jaw is a trapdoor to doom!
As for the toys, the cyborg with the hook/gun/litterpicker arm and utility belt has got to be the winner. Now with bending elbows!

Ohh! I remember Man-E-Faces as well!!
I have to vote for my guy Trap-Jaw though.
You know, MOTU is pretty cool, actually.

Yeah. It's only He-Man and Orko who make them look uncool.

Have to vote Orko here because Orko is always supreme. But this is my least favourite Orko figure made. Looks too way too goofy and stupid with his cartoony boss eyed eyes.
And before anyone says he is supposed to look stupid and goofy because its Orko then...then...the thing is...sod off.

This is horrible. The three of these that aren't Orko would win nearly any other week..... and Orko is a pretty nice version with a decent display base. Of the remaining three TWO are Phil Childhood favourites and the other is a superb return to form from the end of the line. This is going to come down to details Man E Faces improves on the original by making his head turn and that is FAB. And the armoured limbs which I love now have articulation. But unfortunately the skin tone on his limbs doesn't match his chest and the gun isn't as good as the original. Trap Jaw has the articulation in his elbow that always annoyed me was missing on the original: IF YOU'RE GOING TO MOULD HUGE OBVIOUS ELBOW JOINTS MAKE THEM ARTICULATED SUPER GINRAI!!!!!!! He's also missing the spring in his jaw. Scare Glow just looks amazing. So he wins.

I don't understand the love for Scare Glow. He's not a good skeleton toy - he's a standard MOTU figure with a skeleton painted onto it. A skeleton needs to be a body with flesh removed revealing the bones underneath. www.google.co.uk/search?q=skeleton+toy&tbm=ischScare Glow is a lazily made skeleton toy. How can he compare with a cyborg with a toolbelt for his various arm attachments? Martin

he-man.fandom.com/wiki/Man-E-FacesPoor Man-E-Faces has yet to gain a vote. He is the only one of these four characters to appear in the 1982 DC limited series, and got a bit of build-up before not amounting to very much in the end. Just as Prince Adam has exactly the same physique as He-Man, so Man-E-Faces has the same physique whether he is in Jekyll or Hyde mode. In both cases this annoys me. Weaker alter egos should have different physiques to their powered-up forms. Like Bruce Banner and the Hulk. Or Eric and Bananaman. Martin

Who leads the goodies in your He-Manless world? The Goddess and the Sorceress don't need He-Man to lead them. With Battle Cat and Roboto, they are sufficient and mostly watch with amusement as the forces of Hordak and Skeletor fight each other. Martin

Roboto is easily the best this week, even though he loses a point by having nowhere on his person to store his unused arm attachments, unlike Trap Jaw and the Classified BAT.

Has to be She-Ra for me, just because I've always loved her and her design. (Not like that.) (But also like that.) Roboto comes a close second though, for sure. (Definitely like that.)

She-Ra for me this week and Scare Glow last. Both are my favourite designs of the waves anyway, but massive bonus points for Scare Glow being glow in the dark, and She-Ra featuring proper fabric

Well, you'd better vote then, Jim. She-Ra appears to just have Llama's vote so far. But the 'proper fabric' is actually what I dislike about the figure. That and the awkward head contraption. It's all encumbrance, without serving as practical armour. She just doesn't seem dressed for manoevrability in fighting. I think she's a better figure, and fits better with the rest of the line, without all her junk on her - apart from sword and shield, of course. How do people think this figure compares to the rare one with lifelike hair? www.actionfigure411.com/masters-of-the-universe/origins/origins-exclusives/she-ra-35th-anniversary-2423.phpAnyway, She-Ra comes second to Roboto with me this week. Because of all the decorative impediments she wears on her person. Martin

Anyone got anything good to say about Mer-Man or Zodac?
Martin

Post by Pinwig on May 19, 2022 18:51:51 GMT
I think they're both great, distinctive. I like the idea that Zodac is a neutral observer; that strikes me as unusual for a line like this and I love the way in the DC mini-series that he whizzes about on his space-chair. I was almost tempted to vote for him, but if this is about toy rather than character in fiction, Roboto has to win because of his cog feature - the other three don't have a distinctive gimmick.
