So this hammer we're all supposed to want to collect, that's it behind Springer in the group shot is it? It's not a mighty build-a-fig accessory, it's a bit of cardboard?

I'm not fussed. I've got my Wreckers shelf sorted and it looks fine. Unless they did stonking repaints of any of the existing toys or actually made Rack N Ruin I doubt I'd get excited. All these Wreckers The Next Generation teams aren't THE Wreckers.  |

And it's not like they're at a loss for molds for him, either.
Refraktor, two Perceptors, and what feels like a half dozen Megatrons.
As for my list, I left a lot on the chopping block to make it fit with what Hasbro was doing (excluding Bulkhead for redundancy l), to fill out a year.
There's still a lot that would work, like marvel colored kup and hotrod (because while not marvel purple, he was a wrecker), Apeface from Kingdom Primal, Catscan, Rotorstorm from TR Highbrow, heavy retool of Legacy Skids into Aileron... Rapticon and Pteranotron from PotP Slash and Swoop (not wreckers, but Wrecker Adjacent)
That's just G1 and Botcon. They could wring a Chromia out of PotP Moonracer to be pedantic to work fron TFP era wreckers and complement the CW wreckers.

Maybe they originally planned a giant collectible cardboard space bridge called Spanner but the instructions got garbled so Spanner became a Hammer instead?

Honestly? If they want to create and fill out a definitive history/lore, then every version of the team we've seen, in every continuity, should not be the "original" wreckers.
Repurpose the orange constructicons as the original team of wreckers, forming (Ruination? Landfill? Wreckage?)
