The most upsetting thing about this toy existing is that it suggests that kids who grew up watching Rescue Bots are now old enough to be collecting the Generations line. A terrifying thought. I'm glad to see Rescue Bots getting recognition in the Generations line, although I'm not so keen on this toy - mostly because I don't like how the first Generations Rescue Bots figure is going to be a repaint. I'm also slightly surprised that it's one of the Academy characters that gets thhis treatment first, and not one of the classic Rescue Bots four. Still, if this means we end up with a Generations RBA Whirl I'll be happy. As long as she gets her own, unique mold, that is. Medix was around for a while before RBA. Just never made it into the show.

Going back to what Llama said, combined with others elsewhere assuming this is the start of a Rescue Bots set, I don't think this means anything outside of "We (or they) want medical themed Autobots for Walgreen's exclusives, but we're starting to run out."

Medix was around for a while before RBA. Just never made it into the show. That I did not know. I watched the first season or so of Rescue Bots with my ex's daughter, but then lost track of it after we separated and Rescue Bots became difficult to find on screen here. And naturally as a consequence of both of those I stopped paying quite so much attention to the toy releases. Only started watching Academy after the Scraplet was born. I need to brush up on my Rescue Bots lore.

Ah, that makes sense. Disappointing (and/or reassuring, given my above comment) but it does make sense.

Oh yes, that could be a pretty cool way of doing an IDW-styled Metalhawk!

And as also said upthread, that Armada mold would actually work quite nicely for his IDW incarnation:

The IDW version is unrecognisable as Metalhawk, to my eyes.

Prowl pics on daimchoc. Christ knows how you do the links these days. Can we get the images uploaded? I don't 'do' Facebook...lol Phil will do it when he gets that far. I've given up trying to work out how to get it to embed these days. Sorted. Apologies for the delay, massive sleep recovering from church and some (ongoing) family drama. FB links used to auto embed. They do now if you put them in the right format and I'll cover how to do that elsewhere when I get a free five mins but it is a right faff and probably not possible using the mobile version.

That's where I give up. I'm often on my tablet and trying to convert the links on that and cut and paste everything is a right faff. It was easy when we just had to clip the url to switch the two numbers round, these days it's just a string of nonsense.

My first thought on seeing Animated Prowl was: 'huh, doesn't add anything the original toy did that was out not long ago'.
Then I remembered how old that original toy now is.
Argh.
